Hi All,

My fiancee filed April 6, 2012... April 9, 2012 it says they (USCIS) receive our petition. We got a 13 digit number with letters to track our petition. When i tried to track it, its on initial interview.. Now, my question is what is NOA1? because we did not receive any mail of NOA1.. its already 4 months since they received the petition and we didnt receive any mails.

Where did you get the # you've used to track your case? The 1st letter you've received from USCIS was the NOA1 (I-747C) and it contained your Priority or Receipt Date and case # eg: WAC (for CSV) or EAC123456789 (correct me on this one VSC filers)

Don't worry about it. You have the tracking number. That means they have given you NOA1. NOA1 date is your priority date. Also, it should show you're on initial review, not interview.

NOA1 means Notice of Action 1, or the first notice of action you've received from USCIS. The approval of your petition usually takes anywhere from three months to several more months depending on what additional documents they need from you. Once your petition is approved, the website should say that since you already know how to track it. By then, you'd receive an NOA2 (2nd Notice of Action) telling you you are either approved or denied.

Oh so I have to wait for several months more. I see.
