I know they beat this guy up real good and gave him some good concusions too but the guy had broken into their house tied up his family and was threatening them.

You got to give Mr.Husain some slack he was trying to protect his family and it was not him who started the whole thing.

Can you imagine if you were in Mr.Husain's place.

They tried to take that into account...they probably should have done more however.

Farm tenant arrested after burglars shot was 'plagued by break-ins'

A farm tenant and his wife who were arrested after two suspected burglars were shot at their isolated home had been the victims of a number of robberies. The man is believed to have grabbed a legally owned gun after they were disturbed by the break-in early yesterday.

The burglars called 911.

robbers? who cares about the robbers? gun laws is different in the UK - you shoot somebody there whilst protecting yer property, everyone goes to jail. property owner might be released, if the 'law folk' decide a bunch o things ...

sorry.

Used to be like that here too. That was the impetus behind the original stand your ground laws in the first place.

As far as the law goes, that probably wouldn't have turned out a whole lot different in the US. The guy had the beating coming, but once you chase a guy down and beat him to a pulp, you're going to have a hard time convincing a judge that stand your ground still applies.

:secret: 999

Ha ha - I actually knew that. I thought there would be more confusion if I said 999.

My old cell phone (US based) used to make emergency calls if I dialed 999. Which was surprisingly easy to do just by putting the phone in my pocket.

He may have already entered a plea.

They definitely moved quickly on this, though being in the (inter)national spotlight probably helped.

We got our house in Maine broken into. The police more or less told us to use our own justice cos the courts always let them off. Habitual burglars steal thousands of dollars worth of stuff and use credit cards and checks and if they get caught they get $100 fine. They know they won't be jailed cos the jails are full. Who says crime doesn't pay! But at least I can shoot someone who breaks in and not be jailed for it unlike back home where burglars can sue if they cut themselves on my window when they climb through it!

Don't know if that would result same in US.

Result in UK and US are not always same see the recent case where 92 yr old shot a burglar he was not jailed for it.

Unfortunately US is becoming UK and that is the scary part.

Couple who shot the burglar in self defense or protecting their property should not be charged at all period.

Cases like this where one is protecting family, property or self should never be charged at all, they should not be in jail.
