If the voters reject the GOP platform, the Republicans had better started looking for a new strategy. A strategy that goes beyond obstruction. Obviously, they will be able to table their #1 priority of the last 4 years then because it will come about all by itself. Maybe they can start thinking about the country before the party then. If not, 2014 will look quite ugly for them. Obama, on the other hand, also won't face re-election pressures. It's a setting that would allow for real stuff to get done. Think Clinton's second term w/o the #######.

Clinton's second term consisted of doing a lot of stuff Republicans wanted. There is virtually zero chance of anything that Obama wants to do getting done in the next 2 years. The Republicans are not going to lose control of the House, and they might actually take the Senate, despite what happens with the white house. Don't expect Republican House members to bend any more than they have in the past. Unlike Obama, many of them will be up for re-election, and they are not going to go against their voters wishes for any reason.

The only possibility for change is to vote for Romney. Otherwise it will be what we have now for at least 2 more years unless Obama wants to adopt a Republican platform.

If Obama wins re-election, he will win because the country rejects the GOP platform. Republicans will either understand that or pay the price in 2014. And possibly again in 2016.

Again, this is the misconception that a Republican congressman in Texas gives a ####### what an Independent in Colorado thinks about him. He doesn't. He only cares about the voters in his own district. If the voters in the Republican congressional districts want to "reject the GOP platform", my guess is they won't vote for a Republican congressman. The voters in Tea Party districts for example are perfectly fine if the only thing their representative accomplishes is to block Obama's ideas. If that wasn't the case, they would be outing them in this election, and that is not happening.

There's nothing really to debate. It was a known fact months ago that they only candidate that can beat Obama one-on-one is Ron Paul. Before the conventions I would have predicted that the popular vote would be 51-49 in favor of Obama with Obama winning about 60-80 more delegates than Romney. After the complete fiasco that occurred at the RNC... all bets are off. This WILL be one of the most one-sided elections we have seen in decades. Obama is going to win in a landslide. Me personally... I'll be writing in Ron Paul's name.

A lot of the people I work with don't necessarily love Obama, but most of them say they can't vote for Romney because they don't know where he stands on many of the key issues. This will be the downfall of Romney/Ryan, I believe.

They made a mistake in not providing enough detail about their plan. Their plan, at the RNC, consisted of "making America better" - and offering no suggestions as to how they were going to do that. The DNC at least had numbers and statistics to back up their plan.

And this is why I will not be voting for Romney either. I'm not sure yet if I'll vote for Obama, but I'm done with what this current GOP represents.

I'm really surprised that the GOP hasn't looked to people like Scott Brown as their future, he will be getting my vote again for sure.
