Gosh you are in a bad mood today rebeccajo, I know you and your husband have been waiting the longest time for everything to finally come through and I really feel for both of you having to go through such a long process, but I have no argument with you. I was just answering your question and there was no attitude implied.

And yes I have had a whinge and whine about the process, seeing people who got transferred what feels like waaaaaaaay after mine get approved really quickly, I can just imagine how you feel about it all and are pretty much fed up to your back teeth with it all. And me saying all this has probably ticked you off even more, I am sorry.

You're damn right I'm in a bad mood. I see no end in sight for my husband's situation other than a Writ of Mandumus filing this time next year. After we pay for a third EAD and a few thousand bucks to acquire an attorney. All the while watching these random, inconsistent and interviewless transfers.

Yes you ticked me off. But I'm a big girl and I will get over it. I appreciate you thinking enough of our situtation to offer an apology. My attitude isn't the best right now but I'm not going to apologize for it. I think I'm entitled to be mad.

I will say this. Those of you in this thread are lucky for your transfers and you damn sure should be grateful for it. Whenever I see one of you complaining about some part of your transfer process, it chaps my hide to the max.

You and your spouse can now proceed with building your lives legally in this country. You can get mortgages, build credit, and accumulate 401(k)s. The naturalization clock has begun to tick if that's a goal you have in mind. Your spouses status is legally protected, rather than being in some state of limbo that becomes more undefined each day as Congress monkeys with the definition of 'legal presence'.

I don't think any of you have one damn thing to complain about. The mere fact that your case has been transfered means it has priority. I don't even see CSC namecheck cases taking as long as typical namecheck cases. You'll get your greencards and probably long before most applicants.

Rebelheart: I never applied for an EAD for my daughter, and although the school looked at me funny when I said she had no SSN, they got over it and enrolled her & gave her a dumby number for the time being. I will get that sorted out once she has her GC. The only real advantage to getting it done from what I can see is for tax purposes.

What would be the relevance of a greencard to a Social Security number for a child? Why wait?

Just wanted to let you know that you do not have to supply the school with your child's social security number, it is actually illegal to use that number as a source of identification. Just tell them you don't want to give it to them and they have to give another number to your child as a source of identification. You really don't want that your social security number out there more than it is absolutely necessary.

Hi,

I was trying to find PATTRA as a member and could not. However looking at the posts here I think this ties up with PickThai who was approved on 10-20-06.

And as I was bored...The countries represented on the CSC waiting list above me consist of (greater than 1):

UK 8

Canada 6

Phillipines 3

Austrailia 2

Does n't mean anything of course, but I was interested!

we submitted that one..

by the way rebeccajo

i think all of us are greatful for the transfer quite a few have got their EAD's before their greencards in here and if they want to whine surely its a free country and they can do so if it helps them...

this whole process is nerve racking as it is..i even know people outside this website who go through this and have been in your situation..for me it was a quick process all the way through and i am very very very grateful for that..and my heart goes out to all that have been waiting so long...

Sure. It's a free country. You can say whatever you like. And so can I.

I wonder how it would be received on VJ if all the Vermont I-129F petitioners started a thread in the K1 forum in which they kept track of one another, many complaining about the delays and holdups of their process?

I was a lucky Vermont petitioner and I damn well kept my mouth shut about it, that's for sure.

Just trying to explain to you how it feels from this side of the fence. I wish ill on no one. But I'm nearly to the breaking point with seeing these expedited approvals. It's beyond unfair. It violates the 'policy' we've all been told we have to follow.

um, but they already do! And yes, it sucked to watch as a CSC filer but I had no choice if I wanted to keep in touch on VJ.

I know you're POd RJ, and I wish you nothing but the best. I can't imagine what it feels like. The same way I can't imagine what getting my I-129f approved in 18 days feels like vs. my 84 days.

You have been rather short lately in the AOS forums...and unfair to some posters with their good news. We know there is nothing fair about this whole process but I don't begrudge anyone a speedy approval. OUr spouses are HERE now and that's something. Certainly better than being across the pond.

I do hope you get some case movement soon.

I'm short everyday. Can't reach anything in the grocery store.

I know I'm not in the best mood lately but I don't think I've been unfair with anyone regarding their news.

I am challenging people to look beyond their own cases and see what is happening around them because lately I believe that is sorely missing around here.

JamesMiranda, was that touch saying they received it or was it just a touch, just because I know your case was like mine when you never got the received email. Just wondering cos maybe I'll start checking my status now, I never check it these days as it hasn't changed since 9/15.

Rebeccajo: I'm so sorry about you and your husbands situation. I'm sorry if you find this thread to be inappropriate.

It is unfair that people get expedited to CSC I totally agree and I'm a transferee myself. I was all prepared to go to an interview and wait my turn just like everyone else. No one here made our cases get transfered to CSC, if you have a problem with expedited processing to CSC then complain to the USCIS about it. I'm sorry if that comes off nasty it is not intended to be. I don't come on here and post very much and I know that your opinion is respected on these forums.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I know if I were in your position I would be extremely angry myself, just as you are. However although a CSC transfer usually is quick, some are not as quick. I have not received any email saying it has been received and as far as USCIS is concerned my case is still in transit to California, that's almost 3 months now that it's been in so called transit. Everytime I speak to someone they tell me something new, "we don't have processing times for CSC transfers, call back in 30 days" which changes to 60 days which changes to now 90days. I know this is nothing compared to what you've been through but it is still frustrating to me.

Try and enjoy the fact that you and your husband are together. There are other people on this forum, as you probably well know, who need to file waivers and are separated longer. Although it may not be any consolation to you now at least you are together and although you may not be able to do things without the greencard, just as my husband and I can't, at least you are together. Make Wes give you a big hug and try and forget about the immigration woes- if only for today. (F)

I agree, I know we have been transferred and will almost certainly have a shorter process than you, but I know I get pretty PO'ed when I see people who filed way after me complaining they don't have a GC/EAD yet, especially when they're still below the 90 days for EAD or a day over or had an RFE which they should know will mess it up. I either tell them the facts and to wait and just don't reply congrats to threads who got approved before me and filed after because, I know it's horrible, but I can't be that happy for them cause I'm annoyed that the whole process is unfair and those who file first absolutely don't get processed first. I have tried not to complain that it's taking too long, my only big complaint was no notice from CSC of receiving our case but I tried to let it be known I didn't want a faster processing, I just wanted to simply know they have it so I know it isn't lost somewhere. People should still share good news, like I did with my touch today, but sometimes its easier to just not reply when you're annoyed about your own case!

Katie - They did acknowledge getting it on the 17th of November, I didn't post it in this thread though since I'd already said something about it in another thread and didn't want to over post the same thing.

Your advice to me is fair, Katie. I am glad we are together. He's been here since last September and we've been married a bit over a year. But there comes a point where one has to step back from the euphoria of being reunited and realize that now, real life needs to happen. The not being able to 'do things' you referenced is starting to have a serious impact on our lives. Our home is for sale and we hope to buy another one. I don't know many couples who can buy a home on one of the partners income - without Wes' card, once our home sells we may be forced to move into an apartment rather than purchase another home. The member dani-christine saw her husband lose his student financial for the fall and winter semesters of 2006. He was allowed aid the first year but the school wouldn't grant further aid to non greencard holders because 'you should have your card within one year'. It was in the policy manual of the school.

I fully intend to complain to USCIS. I have the draft of a letter in my mind. Last night I did research of the representatives I intend to copy on that letter.

I don't think this thread is inappropriate. It tracks data. It's some of the fretting in the thread that gets me. I don't see anybody here waiting what I would call "a long time".

I do not mean to take out my frustration on other VJ members. But I truly see SUCH selfishness on this board anymore - people who post and post for help and then - poof - disappear.

I'll tell you what I believe from being here a while. I believe this CSC transfer business is a temporary measure and it will disappear just as quickly as it appeared. Then some other 'golden calf' will be on the horizon, and another group of people will be left out in the cold.

Mychelle,

I'd caution you strongly against not applying for your EAD. It is possible that your green card will be processed before your EAD, but the document will pay for itself almost immediately if that isn't the case.

Best wishes for a speedy process.

yeah i did! we talked it over last night and it is a good idea to apply for the EAD anyway. ok...so now we wait...

Well an update on my case, per se..

Still no touches, but I just got a phone call from the SSA and they told me that after waiting and checking and checking, my file status has still NOT been updated by the USCIS. Yay, you gotta love em. $180 for an EAD I STILL cannot use. Now I need to go back in again, for the fourth time and give them a copy of my EAD Card and my Visa so they can mail off a request to the USCIS to update, which takes on average another month or so, if I am lucky and then another couple of weeks for a SSN.

Yes I am having a whinge. Ah well, $hit happens....
