we will be sending our application tomorrow...AOS and EAD. i hope we will be one of those transferred to CSC without interview.

i've been looking at the approved timelines...and it looks like the GC is approved about the same time as the EAD. is it still worth it applying for EAD?

if you have received your greencard that is your back into the country pass lol...in other words that is the card that proves you are allowed back into the country because u live here mate...so if your going overseas just remember to take your greencard with you and show the officer at the POE mate...

well it all depends really..i applied but got transferred and got my greencard before my EAD...although it might be a waste of money as you can see on the lists quite a few have got their EAD's before their greencard...so it is up to you what you would like to do...

thanks for the response. our application is actually set for the AOS and EAD already. i'm just having second thoughts seeing other people's timelines (even the ones not transferred to CSC and interviewed.) i am keeping my fingers crossed that we will be LUCKY as you guys. B)

Hey Everyone,

Got an e-mail today from USCIS saying that on 24 November 2006 our AOS was approved (or that they just ordered a card for us, without approving it )...My wife was sooooooooo happy, she even started to cry. Now we wait for the green card to arrive in the mail and hopefully, no mistakes and also maybe we can go to Ukraine to visit her friends and family for New Years and Orthodox Christmas...God Bless you guys and this forum!!! Put us on the approved list of CSC tranfers...

I'd caution you strongly against not applying for your EAD. It is possible that your green card will be processed before your EAD, but the document will pay for itself almost immediately if that isn't the case.

I agree with Ridley. It would be a gamble.....

Look at my timeline....I had the same thoughts you are having and did NOT apply for EAD......well, it's been more than 8 months, and still no Greencard (even though I was transfered to CSC in May).

thanks for the reply. anyway, ive noticed we have same case with regards of EAD. though my EAD approved 2 months before AOS approval as they notify me. The previous email notify my EAD as received case but still pending.

Well, do u think we still be getting it? since we have our greencard already. my husband doubting they will still give news about EAD status.

i'm ready tomorrow to apply for SSN, state ID and/or driver's license.

hi mychelle, goodluck to your AOS. If you think you won't mind paying $180 for EAD, in case your AOS will be approved early than it, i won't stop you.

When i tried to update the status of my 5 yrs old son AOS, it still pending in CSC.. when i tried to make infopass they questioning me, why i didn't apply EAD for my son bcos he needs it for school. Well i don't know if that's one of their many reasonwhy they pending my son AOS, or its just bogus...... . Now i don't know what to think, if they approved my AOS bcos i paid my EAD hehehe well, if i know its that important for my son, i should apply & pay instead his EAD than mine

Doesn't "EAD" stand for "Employment Authorization Document".....? I didn't know your 5-year old son was planning on working in a school

Seriously, if that's really true, that information should be broadcast a bit more.....If I had had a small child come over with me, I wouldn't have looked at an EAD for him/her either

i don't believe it either .. because i got confused about it before when i started applying AOS. I only believe, when my son enrolled in school they asked for SSN because its a major requirement, and only to avail that is for you to have an EAD card, that's the reason why they saying it. But when i got confused i asked many of VJer's with K2 cases, and they didnt apply EAD for them, and 1 i knew apply for her daughter. So majority i choosed not applying EAD for my son, i got advice to wait for greencard and then apply him SSN for school requirements.

I just promised the school that i will get him SSN as soon as he got his own greencard. But funny thing happened, the school updating student info's ... i got this paper from school and seeing my son got his own SSN already hahahaha..... i didn't correct that for now, it's more better for me to correct it when my son got his own SSN card in hand.

Rebelheart: I never applied for an EAD for my daughter, and although the school looked at me funny when I said she had no SSN, they got over it and enrolled her & gave her a dumby number for the time being. I will get that sorted out once she has her GC. The only real advantage to getting it done from what I can see is for tax purposes.

Gosh you are in a bad mood today rebeccajo, I know you and your husband have been waiting the longest time for everything to finally come through and I really feel for both of you having to go through such a long process, but I have no argument with you. I was just answering your question and there was no attitude implied.

And yes I have had a whinge and whine about the process, seeing people who got transferred what feels like waaaaaaaay after mine get approved really quickly, I can just imagine how you feel about it all and are pretty much fed up to your back teeth with it all. And me saying all this has probably ticked you off even more, I am sorry.
