Hello all,

I filled the first phase papers for my wife on June 22 and it is still showing on initial review. Is this normal? should i do anything, I mean, can i call some one in the service center to ask about it. One of my friend filled on the same week and she already got the approved letter like 2 weeks ago.

It's normal. I am still on initial review too, and expect to be that way at least for another month or more. Just be patient and your time to get the approval will come soon.

Also if you :time: then you can get an estimate on when you might receive your approval.

the AVERAGE processing time is 5 months, anyone getting approved before that is lucky. I got approved after 6.5 months (194th day).

USCIS:

12/06/2011 - Married

01/17/2012 - I-130 Sent

01/18/2012 - NOA1 Date

07/30/2012 - NOA2 Email Received (194 Days since NOA1)

NVC:

07/30/2012 - Case arrived at NVC building

08/20/2012 - Received case #, IIN, gave both e-mail addresses

08/20/2012 - E-mailed DS-3032 (used email template & also attached scanned copy)

08/27/2012 - AOS bill invoiced & PAID online

08/28/2012 - AOS bill appears as PAID

08/29/2012 - DS-3032 accepted

08/30/2012 - IV bill invoiced & PAID online

08/31/2012 - IV bill appears as PAID

08/31/2012 - AOS Package sent (via priority mail)

08/31/2012 - IV Package sent (via priority mail)

09/04/2012 - NVC received both packets (due to weekend & labor day holiday)

09/11/2012 - AOS/I-864 accepted

09/17/2012 - RFE for DS-230 ques 30

09/19/2012 - Mailed new DS-230 by overnight mail

09/21/2012 - New DS-230 delivered at NVC

10/01/2012 - IV Package accepted

10/01/2012 - Case Complete

10/02/2012 - Interview date assigned by email

Mumbai Consulate:

10/05/2012 - Medical Done (Got the report on same day)

11/07/2012 - Interview @ Mumbai Consulate (Result: APPROVED)

11/09/2012 - Passport Pick up

11/22/2012 - POE Atlanta

CSC is getting approved a lot quicker than 5 months, even though USCIS.com states the wait time should be 5 months. Average wait time, according to VJ timelines for I-130s sent to CSC, is actually about 2.5 months. Nothing you can do about it until 5 months, though. You might as well sit back and enjoy the wait. Probably won't be much longer.

04/04/2022: Check for passport cashed.

05/03/2022: Status changed to "The U.S. Department of State approved your application for your passport book. We're now printing your passport book and preparing to give it to you. You should receive your passport book on or around 05/09/2022."

05/05/2022: Passport Received.

05/09/2022: SSA Citizenship Status Updated.

05/25/2022: Naturalization Certificate received in mail.

Oh ok. Two of my friends got approval in 2 months. so it's all depend on the service center i belive.

It's dependent on your case, what you background checks find, your adjudicator (maybe a fast one or slow one). But expect 5 to 6 months sooner thats a blessing.

08-08-2012 Sent to Chicago lockbox,CR1
08-16-2012 got text message and email.Keep waiting.No NOA1 hardcopy.So we called.
09-17-2012 about this time,got NOA1 hard copy.Priority day August 13th
04-01-2013 cool,NOA2 approved.We both very excited.

05-28-2013 After waiting for almost 2months,Just noticed The NOA2 is wrong.Called USCIS to correct it.

06-11-2013 NVC recieved

06-24-2013 GUZ casefile number assiged

06-25-2013 Pay AOS fee,DS-3032 OPTIN email sent

07-11-2013 OPTIN accepted,Got GZO number

07-15-2013 Got IV fee email

Most of us never got a text or email for NOA1. We got the NOA1 letter about a week or so after they received it. Sometimes it can take up to 30 days. So after 30 days if you have not got letter I would be calling. If you are lucky to get text or email those come pretty quick after they received usually within 5 to 7 days.

No. It takes on average about 5 months for NOA2 of your I-130. Then it takes about 2 weeks to get to NVC which can take around a month to complete. Then your interview date could take about a month from the end of your NVC processing. So the whole process takes about 7-9 months on average. Closer to (.6, .75) years. This is assuming you were sent to VSC, though.

CSC is quicker right now.

78 days now since my NOA2 and my petition is still sitting at NVC with no interview date yet.

Yes. One exception does not nullify the average. You'd still be within the regular range, though. You're currently still below 6 months in processing since your NOA1 date was March 12, 2012. It is September 4, 2012 (not even 6 months yet). You'll probably be ready for your interview in the next month or two.
