we could be waiting for 2 years for our K1 petition?

ok, good day guys...now how should i start?...i posted a topic last time about the adjudicator calling my fiance and informing her that our petition is not yet opened (eventhough we got the NOA1 last march) and she asked for her military ID. we were told to wait till september 5 this year.

now, just yesterday, my fiance told me someone from the california office called her again just to update her that our petition is now being processed...and the thing that bothered me was she told my fiance that we have to wait for our K1 petition within 6 months to 2 years...

is there something fishy about all this? my fiance will call them again tomorrow since its september 5 already and we got these weird calls from the so-called uscis guys to just update us and whatnots...

its pretty weird for me because from what i know is its as simple as: we send the petition, they give us NOA1, run a background check on her, process our petition for 6 months or so (give us an RFE if ever we have one) and give us the NOA2 so i can go on to the interview here in our embassy...

i never heard any case where guys from uscis occassionally calls the petitioner just to update things (it's fine and dandy that we are getting updates but the other things are weird such as our petition not being opened yet and us waiting for 2 years)

isn't it that uscis contacts the petitioner either by snail mail (NOA1 and NOA2/RFE) and emails? and not on phone?

it's saddening too because we consider our case to be pretty simple...both of us are single and we have known each other for a long time and this thing is happening which keeps on delaying our marriage. :(

what should we do about it? please help guys...thank you very much and have a blessed day.

I've never heard of them contacting you by phone, and your timeline sounds about right- it should all be done is 8 ish months.

If you are sure that your fiance is telliung the truth about the phone calls (have you seen NOA1?), could it be a family member or an ex pranking you? Maybe if they call again, ask questions only you would know, such as your receipt number.

That's the embassy though- they do call sometimes to do background checks. USCIS in the USA, just to give an update? They are way too busy.

K1 petition in 2 years? that's pretty odd, i believe you should at least receive an RFE if there is one....i think you should ask your fiance to write a letter to whoever it may concern to expedite it...if im right "lag in process duration" is valid to request for expedition right?

by the way, thank you very much...i hope you guys get approved already, i know how it feels waiting for someone you long for everyday...2 years is too long for a K1 petition...
