Hello guys,

I am here to ask for help to those who know the answer to my question and had experience the same scenario. My green card expires on the 21st of Dec. of this year and so I am going to apply for the removal of the conditional status pretty soon (I think it should be on the 21st of Sep.).

My question is while applying for the removal of the conditional status am I able to travel overseas? I intend to spend my Christmas in the Philippines from Dec. 17 until Jan 5. Am I going to get a letter telling me of the extension of my green card and would that be sufficient for me to present going back to the States? or if I travel to Ireland would I also need a green card? What should I do? Please advise...:)

Please help.............

Jona

I just sent my Package last week and I will be out of the country the whole month of december to see my family! You will be bale to travel overseas, just bring your expired green card and the NOA 1 letter (which will extend your green card for another year! If you want to travel to ireland in that time you will only need your passport.... you need the green card + NOA1 only for re entering the united states :)

I've been asked for my green card when leaving the US a few times and I always get asked for it before I board the flight back to the US so you don't just need it to re-enter the US.

Be careful! 90 days from December 21st is actually Saturday the 22nd of September. The first working day within the 90 day window is the 24th of September. They are very strict about this and should it arrive on the 91st day before the expiration date it will be returned. Given that you have a 4-5 month wait (or longer God forbid) what's a day or two just to make certainit is not rejected for being early?

Good luck and congrats on getting to this point,

Dave

You know what Dave that's what I thought too, thank God you're good with numbers:D. I didn't know that they are strict with being early anyways your response helped a lot so just to make sure I understand you, you're suggesting to mail it on the 22nd of September and not the 21st right? Can I mail it at a later date or it's recommended to mail it on the 22nd?

Again thank you Dave you've been very helpful and the rest of the folks here :) Thank you. yes happy that I reached this far and happy with my life in the US with my hubby too :)

Thank you, I am relieved that this actually works this way, by the way do I have to get a I-551 stamp from InfoPass just to make sure I'll be able to return to the States, I'm planning to go on vacation on the 17th of Dec. I am not sure if by that time I'll get my letter of extension.

Thanks again.
