Hi everyone,

My husband and I were thinking of bringing my parents here on a vacation to visit us, I have had my GC for 2 years, and I will apply for ROC next year. Can I do it now or wait for next year until after my ROC? I was reading that we can make an invitation letter but I'm not sure, can we apply for them or do they need to do it themselves? What are the chances for both of them to get approved? Can we pay the fees for them? I was just wondering if there is anybody from Romania that did this before and got approved because I would really like my family to come visit sometime in the near future.

Thanks

PS I'm not sure if this is the proper place to post this, feel free to move it if it's not in the right section.

They need to apply for the visa themselves.

You can send an invitation letter to them, that may support the application.

I am sure you can give them money to pay for the fees.

Your parents will have to prove without a reasonable doubt that they have enough ties to Romania that they have to/ will return to Romania. If they cannot prove strong enough ties then the tourist visa request may be denied!

I do not think your immigration status will affect the application but I could be wrong.

Also- if you only want Romanian's to answer this then you can post it in your regional forums :) (I am not from Romania myself).

it's a very annoying process. they have to apply for it themselves and so many get rejected. took one of my family members 4 tries before she was allowed to come and see her son. they would have to prove they have a reason to come back, bussiness, property, and other strong ties. some people need more than 4 tries, it feels like a gamble

Mrs. Boo,

how did you do to bring your parents here for a visit? I am in the process of doing this and my situation is identical with yours. My mom is scheduled for the interview on the 15th of this month. Should I send her the I-134 and the invitation? Does the US consulate in Bucharest still ask for the Affidavit of Support? Help, please!

2-7-11 - Day 0 -sent AOS package (concurrent filling)

2-11-11-Day 4 - received text message from USCIS with the receipt number

2-18-2011 - Day 11[/font]- received NOA 1 in mail for I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131

2-22-2011 -Day 15- received biometrics letter -appt March 14

3-10-2011- still cannot see case online although I called USCIS two days ago

3-14-2011- Day 35- Biometrics done on the appointment day

3-24-2011-Day 45-case showing up online!!!! USCIS mailed on 3-23 my interview appt letter- April 26 is the day!

3-26-2011-Day 48-Received interview appt letter

4-1-2011-Day 59- USCIS mailed I-131 approval and ordered production of my new card (I assume the combined EAD/AP)

4-11-2012-Day 69- received EAd&AP combo in mail! Bad picture!

4-26-2011-Day 84-APPROVED!!! Card production ordered!

4-30-2011-Day 88-Welcome to America letter received

5-4-2011-Day 92 - received green card in mail (8 days after the interview) - it is kinda green!!!!

You do not do anything in this process. The US does not require an invitation like some other countries. I think sending an invitation and an I-134 makes the application look weak. The number one thing the consulate is looking for is proof that the tourists will return home, and when they present a letter saying that their whole trip is paid for and they will have everything taken care of for them in the US, it looks fishy.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

my parents applied for a tourist visa last year. They didnt have any money but they brought a letter from me saying that me and my husband are paying for all their expenses and will make sure they will go back home after their trip. They were only asked where I live. Their tourist visa was approved.

This year, i invited my aunt to visit US (so she can go with my parents when they come here next year). The consul said 'you cannot afford this trip' after presenting her financial records. And then she handed him a letter from me saying that I will pay for all expenses when she gets here. She also brought my employment certification (indicating my salary) just in case. SHe was also asked if she has family and children at home (she said yes), does she work (she's retired) and if she has kids in the US (her answer was no). Her tourist visa was approved.

Honestly the tourist visa is a gamle and depnds on the country and the officer interviewing. they just apply using the link on the embassy website. you can send them money to help with payment. you can send your financial records and letter stating you/your husband will bear the cost of the trip but the officer may not even ask for this documents.

They need to prove that they have something in romania that will bring them back after their visit; strong ties to home country.

GOD has been WONDERFUL!!!

Make sure your parents can prove that they have strong ties to Romania and that they will be returning.
