Me too! It's been almost 3 weeks since the successful interview. They told me that I would get a card within 2 or 3 weeks but the case online hasn't been updated and the status is still pending even though my FBI name check has been cleared and the case was approved at the interview... I made a call at 800 number but the lady wasn't really helpful. She just told me that it takes 6 weeks until they issue a green card...Useless isn't it?!

i totally agree with you... Has your case been touched after your interview? How long before we should take action on this??

It seems like they "touched?" October 22nd and my interview was October 19th. It says something like they received the requested docoments on August 9th and they will let me know when the case is approve or something like that even though my case was approved at the interview. Very confusing... My online case status had never been in the system until my interview date but I can at least look up now :) I will wait until next week and ask my lawyer how we can find out what's going on. I will keep you posted. Have you been touched after the interview?

Hi Tommy,

I think the sentence you read on line is about REF. USCIS asked you to send more documents before and you or your lawyer sent the document back to them. That is the reply from USCIS. I guess that was about birth certificate since we don't have a birth certificate in Japan. I have the same words and it has not been updated for a long time. They said it will be updated when you receive any respond from USCIS regarding your I-485.

Hi Maki,

You are right. It wasn't a birth certificate but we needed to obtain an employment letter for the joint sponsor as we forgot to send it :P What part of CA do you live in? I am glad that I get to talk to a Japanese person :) :)

My case has been touched twice after the interview... I did give USCIS a call just today & they told me that my case is still outside the processing time. And that it could take 6 months to get results coz they are currently processing 1485's filed last January 2006 .. Basic answers. Nothing specific.. She said that I could still be under FBI pending name check.. Oh dear!

They can't tell you if your case has been pending or not? When I called them yesterday, they told me the case has been approved...so I guess when your case is approved, USCIS people on the phone can tell you it is?! I have never called them before and now I feel they are not really there to help us...

Its good to know there are others in the same boat, thanks guys.

Its really frustrating, but I guess we'll see how the letter goes. I give even odds on a reply stating nothing useful, but there you go!

BTW - I didn't mention my wife's name. I just gave them all the information in the letter that they asked for on the USCIS webpage.

I agree, it is good to know there are others in the same situation. I am very glad to have found VJ and share information as well as our feelings :)

Honestly, it sounds like you're still pending the FBI name check.

For contrast: In my case they took my I-94 and told me "You're Approved". I asked for the stamp but was told, "we don't do that any more because Green Cards show up so quickly." Ironic huh?

Hi Tommy,

So you have been approved! Congratulations! Did you check if the screen word had been also changed, such as welcome notice was sent ? My case got a touch once 2 months ago after the interview and that was all. Don't know what is going on. I really don't think my name is still under check (laugh).

Hello Cathy and all,

I suggest that you write them too, to follow-up on your case status and that would remind them about a lot of more cases to have to get going. I am still waiting for my approval too. When they answered, Portland District Office wrote about National Security checks. It stated that a final decision cannot be made on any application for naturalization or adjustment of status to that of a permanent resident until national secuity checks are complete and the local CIS office recieves a response. The process, according to them take many months. Washington D.C area complete the checks and the local office don't have control over the pace of completion. It was also stated in the letter that, it is not unusual for the checks to take well over six months. ( My interview was last August 17, if I have to wait six months, more or less my status would be approved February or March 2007)

Homeland Secuirty in Lee's Summit, MO, replied in my email; we received your response to our request for evidence or information. However because preliminary processing was

complete, the remaining processing time will be less than the maximum stated

in this message. You will receive a written decision on this case. You

can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done.

Two different replies from two offices of Homeland Security, now it's a real waiting game..either for March 2007 or soon. :-)

It is a good thing I have my Work Authorization Card, so I can work.

Good luck to you and yes patience comes in handy.

Jan

Just to update people on this, just in case you're interested (which I'm sure you're not but it feels good to vent anyway):

Tomorrow is the 4 week anniversary of my "successful" AOS interview and still nothing in the mail or online. Today I start the first prong of my assault, which is to write a letter to USCIS requesting my case status. I'm doing this because an Infopass means taking a day off and driving for 7 hours. Wish me luck.

HI DR LHA!

Me too! It's been 3 weeks already & no news from them yet... Do you think I should write them too or just wait a lil bit longer??

For the record, you will not necessarily see a 'touch' dated the same as your interview date.

We have received 3 touches in the last year. The receipt date of 11/17/05, another on 12/28/05, and a third on 6/22/06. Our interview was 3/9/06 and there was never a touch reflecting that date.

Not taking the I-94 and not stamping the passport is not necessarily a reflection of a case still in namecheck. Your local office should be able to confirm if you are in namecheck - I would Infopass for that information.

Hi Maki,

Yes, I was told that I was approved at the interview. My online status didn't show up until the interview date so I am not exactly sure if they changed it after the interview but it says nothing about sending a welcome letter or anything like that. So I made an infopass on November 20th to get another temporary I-551 stamp in my passport. I don't think your name has been under the check either

Hi Bella Donna or Jan!

thanks for the advice.. So how will I write to them?? Email or snail mail?? and where? at my local district office??

So weird!! I know two other members here who got interviewed at the Baltimore District office & got the same response. "Just wait for the results in the mail" "I'm gonna be taking your papers to my supervisor & let her review them"

I did ask the immigration guy if a second interview was still necessary because my hubby wsn't with me during my interview due to his recent deployment in Iraq. I did show him a letter from his chain of command stating he can't attend my interview. He just looked at it & returned it to me.. He responded that no 2nd interview is necessary... He's too poker-faced so I really am clueless if I'm approved or not. He just took a copy of my military ID & my hubby's latest paylips.... WEIRD...

It means that the date on one's case in the USCIS website has been updated... Do you have an account there?? :star:

Yes, I think that would be a good idea to write them. My interview was last Ausgust and no word from them. So I wrote them a letter in the mail for follow-up and they did reply, that my case is still being process. They sent me an email too. At least they responded.

Good luck

Quick update, my letter to USCIS hasn't been replied to but it obviously did something. Both my I-485 and I-765 got touches yesterday (Nov 11th). My EAD was approved months ago, so I'm not sure why the touch on that, but those touches are certainly a positive thing given than my previous touch on I-485 was Sept 2nd!

Here's hoping I get some emails soon!

I'm expecting that, yes. Still the touch does make me somewhat comforted that I haven't been completely forgotten about. After all I'm not pending name check or anything so there really isn't a good reason why I should still be waiting for any confirmation of my approval.
