I've been to the UK thrice.

The first was the worst time. I had never been out of the country and I was so nervous. I had a female officer in Manchester. She asked why I was coming, how long i was staying, did I have a job, who bought my ticket, if she called them right now would they be expecting me, is the male i'm visiting my boyfriend or just a friend....Lots of questions. And it was only for 2 weeks!

They also sent me to sit in a waiting area for some reason and forgot about me.

But the other 2 times were breezy :) Still at Manchester, but male attendants.

I know my timeline sucks, but my husbands P.O.E was on January 7th, 2013!

Greencard in hand! After almost 4 years, WE DID IT!

Similar to darkmoonfaerie, I felt like I was grilled when trying to enter the UK. I was staying for seven weeks during my break (I was a teacher at the time with the summer off). I had to show my return plane ticket confirmations, my contract for teaching showing my "return start date", and method of funds to pay for my trip (showed credit card and stated bank balance). Just be prepared, and it sounds like you are.

Have a great trip over there!

Alright, I've gathered the needed documents, and I'm on the last portion of planning! Would you all say $2000(1239.00 GBP) is enough? I can possibly get it up to $2500 but that would probably be my max.

That should cover your beer bill for the first week!

Should I print off one single bank statement, or multiple? Also, I might be moving back in with my father to assist him in taking care of my younger brother and sister (A disappointing turn in my plans). If I move back before my trip, should I just type up a lease agreement from my father stating I live with him, pay rent, and help take care of my siblings?

Alright, this is going to be my last post before I leave. Currently getting everything together and such. Is there anything else I might be on the lookout for or be warned about? I'm getting really excited!

Yeah...don't look as nervous as you sound because they will wonder what you're hiding. Don't dress like a bum. Dress for success is a good motto. I don't mean a suit and tie, but don't look like a penniless homeless person either. Got that tip from a CBP officer.

I lied, one more post! Thank you for all the help you've been, and I'd like to ask you one more question since you are a very reliable source of information! Does it look suspicious if one brings a lot of documents detailing "Ties to home". I'd like to think being prepared would be a good thing, but I'm still very new to travel.

Kaden--everybody is different ages, looks different, stays different lengths of time, and gets a different guy at the immigration desk. So what happens with one won't necessarily happen with the next. For example, I am an older woman who has no tattoos, piercings, or hot pink hair and never stayed longer than 4 weeks. I made many trips and it always went the same.

What is the purpose of your trip? I'm on holiday.

How long are you staying? I don't know, until [date]. That's just short of three weeks I think.

Where are you staying? At this address in Oxford (pointing to address written on the landing card).

Done!

What I didn't do is offer my whole life story without being asked for it

What is the purpose of your trip? im here to see my boyfriend and we want to get married, but we are applying for a US visa and I have a lot of money and my mother and boss wrote a note for me and see my return ticket here.

Go with the confidence you will be admitted. Wait to be asked specific questions or for evidence. Be prepared to say how you can afford a two month trip since you must not be employed or you couldn't get off that long. Your reasons are valid. You want to spend the holiday season abroad getting to know the future family. And no I don't think it is suspicious to bring evidence, but I wouldn't show it all unless the situation warrants it...like if they totally doubt you.
