Question about I-864 and I-864a

I'm currently living in Canada with my husband (who is a Russian citizen). We're in the process of filling out the AOS applications. My father will be a co-sponsor/joint sponsor since my income is not high enough to meet the poverty level.

My question is the following: We're living at separate addresses now (husband and I are in Canada, my father is in the US), but it's likely that we'll move in with my parents when we come to the US. Should my father therefore fill out the I-864a form (since we'll be in the same "household") or should he fill out the I-864 (since we're not currently living in the same household)?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I-864 is the correct one for both you and your dad; the I-864A is only for someone who is financially dependant. has filed joint taxes with the I-864 sponsor, which your dad has not.
