I'm very human but the last thing I have empathy for is stupidity. Especially self-imposed stupidity. If you CHOOSE to live somewhere that might flood, you shouldn't expect my help in repairing your home. As a matter of fact, you should expect me to actively discourage you from rebuilding in a flood-prone area.

I have to agree with this. Your right to do something foolish should not carry with it an obligation on my part to absolve you of all the consequences at my considerable expense! As a compassionate human I would be in favor of doing whatever was necessary to rescue those people from immediate danger and to see that they get some type of shelter. But paying for them to rebuild?

A politician who actually cared would have offered for one of his staff to call on her behalf, understanding that losing everything means they don't have a phone. They would also follow up the call and check on the person. Instead Ryan wants to cut funding for this. They will lose votes over this for sure.

Are you so uninformed that you don't realize that people have been evacuated because of flooding and are unable to return to their homes? How is insurance going to help these people right now?
