I got along quite well with my in-laws, but my understanding is it's because I worked like hell and was not "high-maintenance"-their word about American women. My ex-husband's down-to-earth father gave him this piece of advice before our wedding day: "whatever you do, don't spend any money on her", my ex later told me that. His cynical mom turned out to be very happy that I didn't have a hair cut or buy any new clothes for two years, and her son always got to eat home-cooked food. His bitter brother liked the fact that I helped babysit the kids- my nieces and nephews. All of my ex-husband's brothers and sisters are divorced. According to them, their exes are all crazy loser a$$holes, didn't deserve their family.

I don't know how they would react if I contacted them for an affidavit. But I, now a crazy loser a$$hole ex in-law, am not going to try.
