Hi,

I'm collecting evidences before I file my I-751 waiver to remove the condition from my green card. I don't have many of them, unfortunately. One of the few evidences would be joint health insurance. My ex covered me through his work. I have a copy of the health insurance card but it only shows his name. I don't know if he has an account on the health insurance company's website or not. Even if he does, I can't access it now.

I don't know what to do. Please, please anyone please has any suggestions?

Thank you very very much.

Did you receive any health care while you were together? If you did, you may be able to get a copy of the Explanation of Benefits from the insurance company that covered your costs or co-pay or you may be able to get something from the doctor verifying that they were reimbursed by xxx health insurance plan in xxx name. There may be a fee for such copies, if they are available.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Yes, I did see the doctor many times while we were together. We used Highmark Blue Cross Shield. Don't know if they'll provide me with a copy of Explanation of Benefits. But I will try both the insurance company and the clinic. I don't mind paying a fee. Thank you.

Do you, by any chance, have any medical bills from back when you were still together, that shows your insurance number and your name? THAT + the card with his name, should work well to prove you were under his Health Insurance.

Unfortunately, I don't. My ex was very controlling. He kept all my papers. I even didn't know where the checkbooks and the credit cards for the joint bank account were (all the money in that joint account was mine, he kept his money in his own account). I have a copy of the health insurance card because i got it scanned and sent to my email address.

I read Kathryn's post after I added my own and she had the best ideas. Hopefully you'll be able to get something from the insurance or the clinic good.gif

Yes, I can get affidavits from my friends. But I wouldn't try his family.Actually he would choke me to death if he found me. He spent some thousand dollars on the petition for me and his belief is it should take me a lifetime of slavery to pay him back. He covered me through his work, yet, he took the money I brought here as a way to make me pay for my own health insurance. He "bought me" a car with my own money, but he registered it under his name...Before I got the car I was house-bound for 1.5 year. After I'd got a car, he only allowed me to drive to the grocery store, which is 5 minutes from home.

I had to run away, leaving everything to him, when I got the opportunity. And he told everybody that I used him for the green card, which I don't have yet.

The direct number to Blue Cross/Blue Shield is on the back of the card. You can call it, explain to them what you need, proof you are covered or were covered at a particular time and if you have access to a fax number, they can even fax it to you.

Good luck!

Correction: I just read that you have a scanned copy. If you do not have the scanned copy of the back of the card, use the internet, find out the companies phone number, call them and give the info off of the front of the card. They should still be able to help you.

That's sad...i wish u all the best and have faith in God He will guide you to get through this...

You don't get support from your inlaws???are they mad at you too???

I'd like to add that, many USC marry us foreigners and then treat us like a piece of property, or even worse-my ex husband was kinder to his couch than to me. When we choose to leave them before they kill us or we kill ourselves they call us frauds. Who wouldn't want to stay in a happy marriage with a loving spouse? And if you are a caring USC, why don't you smell scamming during the long period of time when you dating and living together but wait until after the marriage has fallen apart to say that your spouse has scammed you into the marriage. Are you really that innocent?

Yes, I have both sides of the card here with me. I will call them after the Labor Day. Thank you for your suggestion and hopefully they will help in some way.
