hey guys! i have filed the petition for removing condition of residence, they sent me back the receipt saying my status has been extended for a year, im wondering how long does it usually take them to send the biometric appointment?, its been 3 months now since i filed my form. thanks

hi dyna,you filed the 1-751 then you received the receipt 797 letter the letter says that you have a one year extension for your green card, if your green card expires you still have the letter one year extension if you want you can traval international with that letter,your appointment letter for biometrics should come very soon now any day .

It's usually a month or less.

If I were you, I would call USCIS and/or make an INFOPASS appointment right away. There's a very good chance that they sent your biometrics letter and that it got lost in the mail.

Waiting for 3 months is way too long to receive your biometrics appt. notice. USCIS suggests that if 30 days have passed and you haven't received it, to please call their 800# and let them know. They will send out a service request to your local immigration office. I think when they do it, they usually say it may take an additional 15 days to get the notice. That's why you're waiting 3 months without communicating with them is not good. I never got a notice. I called 40 days after the NOA and they sent out a service request for me. Had to wait an additional 15 days- . And calling the 800# is a headache if you're trying to speak to someone directly. When it asks to press 1 for English, don't press anything. Just wait and you will be transferred to someone right away, as they're probably thinking you're calling from a rotary phone or speak Spanish. A bilingual speaking rep will answer speaking Spanish. Just let her know your problem and she'll speak in English.

Hope this helps! Oh, and I did a walk-in too but after I got the appt. notice. Took a chance...didn't know if I wold be turned away or not. Some centers are very strict about appearing on your appt date only.

In reference to the info pass option another friend mentioned above, I've never gone that route so I can't offer a review on it but it should work just as well also. I'm only speaking on what worked really well for me. Good luck!!
