Long delay on getting answer HELP!!

I had my interview on the 27th of July at the Newark NJ office. When I was done I was told that although I had passed the civics and language test the officer could not reach a decision at that moment and that I would receive a written notice by mail in two to four weeks. It was the fifth week last Friday. Last Wednesday I set an Infopass appointment and was told that there was no news from my application review, and that they were within the time limit as long as the review did not take more that 4 months. So from 2-4 weeks I was now told to wait up to 4 months before asking any further questions. Has this ever happened to anyone else? The Infopass officer justified the delay with the summer vacations and an unusual load in reviews. I need a second opinion from someone who has gone through something similar because I am very confused at this point.

I have read similar posts where members have complained about delays. I think you should give it more time. I am sure you'll hear some good news soon. Also, based on your post, there don't seem to be any red flags, and you may be right. Due to the summer vacations, USCIS is short of staff and may pick up on decisions soon. I would suggest making another infopass if its not far away. At times, you end up with an officer who goes a little out of the way to facilitate. Do share with us if you hear something in the meantime. Good Luck!
