My wife, stepson and myself had our AOS interview on 19 No 2012. There were some strange moments at the interview. I forgot to fill out a G-325A for myself, and promptly complied with the IO request. My wife and I were interviewed first, then the IO brought my stepson in and interviewed him. The IO asked for, and I provided copies of my divorce decrees, a copy of all pages of each of our passports, and photos of our wedding and family photos of our lives since the wedding. The IO then said that since he had only received our file ten minutes before the interview, he would have to review the evidence that we had provided, and either contact us for more information, or we would get our approval in the mail in 10-14 days. I gave the IO a copy of my business card, asking him to please contact me if he had any other questions. The interview lasted a little over an hour. Obviously we were somewhat disappointed. However, shortly after we got home, I got SMS text notifications that each of our I-485s case status had changed to "Card/Document Production." Go figure….? I am assuming that we were approved after all. I will believe it when the GCs show up in the mail. :wow::yes:

Was this interview for real??????

Congratulations!!!!!

You have been approved. I believe he/she just freaked you out, which I understand.

Give yourself a few days to wait for your card.

Thanks for the good thoughts!

As a follow-up: On 20 Nov I received SMS text messages to again check the online status of our cases. The USCIS site indicated "Decision," …"During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision." I think that they got things backwards, since yesterday the site indicated "Card/Document Production,"…"This step applies to applications that result in an applicant receiving a card (such as a "green card") or other document (such as a naturalization certificate, employment authorization document, travel document, or advance parole). Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant. You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application."

Anyhow, I called USCIS three times on 21 Nov, and took the best two out of three answers as having a relatively high degree of probability. That being: A decision has been made, my wife and stepson are getting "Welcome to the USA letters," they will be receiving their Permanent Resident cards (Green Cards) in the next 10-14 days.  Since it was early in the process and an upcoming holiday weekend, the helpful and kind USCIS phone workers were unable to give me USPS Mail Confirmation numbers. I will call again next week and hopefully get those numbers.

I hope that your experience will be less harrowing, but still successful.

Good luck on your immigration journey.
