An October interview date...can you imagine? :D:wow::dance:

This case does NOT really apply to the rest of us though

I checked their timeline....this was an expidite case.

It's not the wait that initially gets you down, it's the K-1ers that get scheduled right away and fly out of the picture like a flock of birds. That leaves you standing baffled all over again.:wacko:

K-1 is a non-immigrant visa. It has nothing to do with slots for immigrant visas. They compete with people for tourist visas to get an interview slot :)

Yeah....we know that already.

We are just wondering why k-1 applicants get to have an interview scheduled.

While we already have case complete and no interview schedule.

I know a k-1 applicant that got their NOA2 70 days after me and they have an interview appointment now.

Because they schedule it themselves. It works like you are scheduling interview for tourist, student or work visa. Most places have online system. You log in see when a date is available and schedule it. NVC has nothing to do with it.

I do. But you can't blame a different visa type and process.

Maggie, it's not that we are blaming any certain visa type or process. All we are saying is it is frustrating to watch all the time slots get filled each and every month while we wait for interview times. If all other categories fill each and every time slot available, month after month, then what...IR-1/CR-1ers wait and entire year?

We are simply stating there needs to be a new policy to allow a certain percentage of IR-1/CR-1's scheduled in the mix, each and every month, to keep all visa categories balanced.

Yeah.....I read a very disheartening thread on our consulate web page yesterday.

It reads: "An immigrant visa petition may wait at the National Visa Center for months or even years waiting for an immigrant visa appointment to become available".

I just about vomited reading that.... :crying:

Well. How do you know that certain % is not scheduled? Not all IR-1/CR-1 visa applicants are on this forum. Look at Mumbai consulate as they publish interview dates by case # and type of visa. There are many types of immigrant visas and they are all waiting to be scheduled for interview. So I actually think there is a % for each type. Depends on the consulate, how many people they have on staff and how many applicants there are in a queue.

I was a k-1 beneficiary over 7 years ago. My case took 3.5 months to finish from sending the paperwork to USCIS to receiving the visa. IR1s at the time were taking over a year to complete. We knew that before we started the process. We chose the k-1 route so we can be together sooner. I passed up the chance of getting married in front of my family and friends which IR1 beneficiaries get to enjoy. There's an advantage and disadvantage to both visa categories.
