My husband and I booked a flight last night for me to go over and visit in a few weeks.

In flying in to a different POE,usually its RDU but due to issues with one particular officer we've chosen Washington Dulles. My husband is driving up from North Carolina to meet me,it will be his birthday so we're going to spend a few days in DC (if I get granted entry!!)

It will be fabulous to spend some time together inbetween the NOA1 AND NOA2 then return home to the UK for christmas with my son and family, hopefully after the new year we will be closer to the NVC stage and on the final leg of the visa journey

Im going to try not to stress about what will happen when I reach immigration,Im driving everyone crazy with that

I'll write a review after my journey.........wish me luck and huge thanks for the support.

Just take proof of ties to UK showing you need to go back. David brought (but was never asked to show) bank statement, letter from his employer showing his holiday dates and date due back at work, mortgage bill, letter from school about his son and a return ticket. Really all they asked for was the return ticket.

I hope you and your husband have a lovely visit. We sometimes only spent a long weekend together but we tried to meet up every 6-8 weeks. It made it tolerable.

Dulles is a lovely airport, and DC is fabulous. I think I remember talking to you before about how horrible RDU is.

Remember to bring a copy of your NOA showing you are following process. The Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum is right next door to Dulles if you are looking to kill some time before your flight out. Have a wonderful trip!

Thanks guys,

Eric and I visit DC on most of my USA trips I love it as its full of history, the art gallery will be a must for us.

Im not working right now so Im aware I have a red flag there, I will have a letter from my landlord plus the local housing office that needs dates of my departure and arrival too so I'll have a copy of that......Im not risking getting in trouble with them either!!!!Bank statements, evidence of previous trips showing no overstays and me leaving when I said I would and evidence Im currently in the CR1 process.

I also have a 13 year old son here in the UK,he wont be emmigrating with me as he wants to stay with his dad so I simply MUST be able to go from the US to the UK when I need,so to risk a ban from AOS or overstay after saying I intended to leave and then didnt just isnt an option(obviously Im a law abiding citizen too regardless of my son) but I will tell the officer that should I need to.

Glad you got your flight booked! I'm heading out in a few weeks, very nervous but hopeful too. Already got all my evidence gathered together so I'm prepared!

All the best, let us know how it goes :)

Hi Lou,

Where are you flying into?

I understand how nervous you are, Im trying to avoid horror stories and focus on the fact Im not doing anything wrong,my intentions are to return to the UK and I WILL.

Ive now decided to stress about the fact the plane is a HUGE boeing 747!!!!! Ive never been on one as an adult and Im terrified.....I'll be going to doctors for Valium before I go!!!!!!

Hey, I'm flying through Dublin then into Chicago, I've done that route before and I much prefer going through immigration before the long flight. I too am hoping that they will realise that I have everything to gain from returning home and everything to lose from overstaying my tourist ESTA. I've been in the country twice before to see Matt and have never overstayed so why would I do it now? So far on here all I have read are positive stories, I keep hearing rumours of horror stories but haven't read anything yet (and don't want too lol) When do you fly out? I'm the 24th, I'll be thinking of you!

Lou :)

Hiya Lou...I fly out of Heathrow on the 27th.

We have to try assume it will all be ok. We're not doing anything illegal,we're following the correct procedures and just want a visit/holiday with our husbands for a while.

I love the US during the autumn,Thanksgiving is lovely and this year we'll be on a complex that has kids so I'll get to see a proper US Halloween!!!! I need it to be like the scene out of ET!!!!!!

Yeah I'm trying to stay positive, as you say we're not doing anything illegal. I've printed out the advice from the Embassy webpage (among many other forms of evidence!) about visiting on a temporary basis while going through the visa process so I think if that's the advice they're giving out then they should honour it. Fingers crossed, I'll try and come back on before the 27th and give you an update.

Lou :)
