I know, right? Despite people before, during and after my send date being approved, I'm still in waiting purgatory. *whistles*

I received the RFE letter on April 16th (too little financial proof sent in the original packet) and have till July 12th to respond. I already have the response packet ready to send back to USCIS. I had planned a trip to Egypt travelling on June 20th and will not be back until July 25th. My husband (USC) suggested that he sends the RFE response packet on July 1st, so in case if we have an interview scheduled, it would not conflict with our travel plans... I am afraid if we wait too long to send the response back, USCIS might give us a hassle, We have the packet ready, it is just the timing that is worrying me....

Am I even able to travel back with an RFE present in the process?

Any input would be appreciated.

My understanding is that unless the status is revoked, the expired green card and the extension letter are good for travel back into the country. We are certainly banking on it, My wife and I are leaving to go abroad on Monday and that's all she has.

As per your other question. The likelihood that they'll set up an interview before you are back is very small but I don't have an empirical evidence to back that up. Its just an opinion. Personally, I would give this a priority. I mean what if they aren't happy with your RFE response and want more? You have the documents, send them asap. If you haven't heard by June 25th, go on the trip. You can always fly back in an emergency (assuming someone is there to open your mail, or you check electronically, although CSC is lagging behind on electronic notification, several of us got paper notification of approval but the electronic notification still says no action).

Having said that, USCIS is not going to look at your file negatively because you took your time as long as they are in time. So you could time it accordingly depending on important the timing of this trip is for you.

Hmm... one month since I have received the approval letter and still no card.

The letter was printed on plain paper, sent from Lincoln, Nebraska but on the bottom of letter shows Chicago office. Date of decision shows 4/10, I received this letter 4/13. Also, no updates on USCIS web page. Last update is the application receipt on 09/17/2012.

.................. so we wait another 30 days

Found something interesting:

Looking at the November 2011 filers thread, many of them experienced a similar phenomenon; they were getting a bunch of CSC approvals during April 2012, but suddenly cards stopped coming and none were received for 5-6 weeks subsequently. It is exactly a year offset from our situation. I dont know how to interpret that, but I am hoping we start to get ours by the end of May, like they did.

It is exactly a year offset from our situation. I dont know how to interpret that, but I am hoping we start to get ours by the end of May, like they did.

We would sit back and quietly wait too, if we didnt need to travel soon. Yes, we can go and ask for an I-551 stamp, but it is another hassle we dont need.

Anyway, your situation must be even more frustrating, I agree...
