I just went to the USCIS web site to check my status, and when I type in my receipt number from our NOA1, it says

You need a receipt number from your biometrics notice to check status.

If you read your NOA1 notice, it says so right on it.

By the way, my online case status still shows 'initial review' and I have not received the email or the text message. When I saw the letter in the mail yesterday I got upset at first because I thought it was a RFE. Anyway, I read that they send you a code to track the card shipping: does it mean you get another letter/email when they actually mail the card?
