yes I just received a third Text message that my Status was updated, when I logged into my account and tracked my case status and there it showed that mail was picked up today and had a tracking number

By the way, my online case status still shows 'initial review' and I have not received the email or the text message. When I saw the letter in the mail yesterday I got upset at first because I thought it was a RFE. Anyway, I read that they send you a code to track the card shipping: does it mean you get another letter/email when they actually mail the card?

I received an RFE today. They want more joint financial proof.

I am not sure what to do as I sent them everything I had. They suggested joint health insurance and such, but we do not have that as we do not have any health insurance right now. We've both had our cars before we got married and kept our own insurances because it was cheaper for us. Not sure what to send them. I did find a joint renters insurance but that's about it. We also do have a joint credit card (the already have copies of those) but separate checking accounts as we both had them before we got married. Even if we get a joint account now only for immigration they will see that this is a new account.

Any suggestions?

We did submit our phone bill (in his name but both of our phone numbers are listed on there) and also our lease, which has both of our names on there.

Can you not add each other to the existing bank accounts??? We did that initially when we were first married and when I was working we opened a second joint account.

Please see below:

-begin by making your banking accounts into joint checking accounts

-joint car insurance won't do much. You might save money as you its from the same household, but that doesn't bind you financially.

-merge anything financial, if you have it; owning things together is good; joint ownership on cars, is a maybe as cars are generally considered negative assets (unless you have a porche!)

-renters insurance won't cut it. It costs $25 or so a month, and doesn't bind you together.

-do you have life insurance at your respective workplaces? making each other as a beneficiary can help.

-I think saying that you will do joint things now - will make it obvious that you might be doing it for immigration only doesn't hold water. You have to respond to their request. You should be able to

make a case stating that since what you sent wasn't enough and you want more joint financial proof, well, here it is. How else can you show joint financial proof without starting somewhere?

-a joint phone bill can be used as proof that you live under the same roof; has the same weight as a water or electricity bill. It doesn't bind you jointly in a financial sense (only in a minor way).

Anyway, just some ideas. I am sure others will pitch in. Don't lose faith. As long as your marriage is a bona fide one, you are in the right, and its just a matter of convincing them.
