If you're sending in tax transcripts, you don't need the 1040s. And if he didn't file jointly and needs to show just his income, W2s aren't needed either. Just transcripts. And I suggest sending in the originals, not photocopies, otherwise NVC might issue a checklist. Just make a photocopy of the employment letter for your records. And if you ever need tax transcripts again, then you can simply order them from IRS again for free.

Okay my AOS WASN'T delivered today. I attached signature confirmation like a dummy and since no one was there (business closed today) USPS left a note. Someone please ease my mind and tell me a giant government organization like NVC has someone that goes to the post office on Mondays to retrieve packets they tried to leave over the weekend.... :crying: :crying: :crying:

They left a note. NVC is open Saturdays. My AOS was delivered on a Saturday signed for at 10:28pm on 9/1. But its cool. They get enough of those delivered they probably have their own special mail person. It's cool. Monday u will see. Ease ur mind.

Do I need to schedule a re-delivery? Did you get the whole "we left a note, someone from that office has to come get it" status when you typed the tracking number in?

No further action required, on yer part.

USPS postal carriers know the NVC MailRoom staffers, as it's the same USPS postal carriers showing up each day, and it's the same NVC MailRoom Staffers.

IMO, what the issue was, is that you got in a shipment requiring signature confirmation. That's not required at all, and (in your case) slows down the process when USPS attempts to deliver on a weekend.

If no delivery signature (but delivery confirmation) then it would have been put inside the NVC Mailroom on Saturday. Staff authorized to sign don't work on Saturdays at NVC.

Don't fret this stuff, USPS will attempt another delivery on Monday. We read lots of weird stories where Saturday and/or Sunday delivery was paid for , and of course it's impossible to do that with delivery signature stuff on the weekends.

Relax.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

No, it won't cause a problem by sending everything. It's just not needed at all.

Saylin, While taking a better look at the interview letter I noticed NVC posted my husbands name on the letter backward. It was listed correctly on all other forms, payment notifications and documents from the NVC, but not the interview letter. Should I be concerned? They have my husband listed as Middle Name, First Name and Last Name. All other documents have Last Name, First Name Middle Name or First Name, Middle Name and Last Name.

I just looked at mine and my name's listed as FIRST MIDDLE LAST. But I wouldn't be too concerned about it. As long as it's spelled correctly, that's what counts (IMO).

It is spelled correctly. Thanks Saylin! I just wanted to make sure it did not have to match his passport since he has to take his passport and interview letter along with him for the medical in Nigeria.

I have a question with the AOS fee. I paid for two beneficiaries, my mom and dad. When I am done with my mom's, I used the "make another payment" to pay for my dad. When I checked my bank account, there was only one transaction of $88.00 that has cleared, and when I went back to the site and printed the receipt, my mom's status was changed to "in-process" to "paid" while my dad's was "paid by related case." Is this how it's supposed to be? Or there should be two transactions of $88.00 and both status should be "paid?" thanks :)

If the two cases are joined, you only pay ONE AOS fee, but TWO IV fees.

After sending off the packet to the NVC I received a request for the Police Certificate (I had not included a copy of it in the NVC packet because it was proving to take a while to obtain). Anyhow, the instructions said I could email it to them, so that's what I just did. I'm guessing since that's the only thing they requested, the packet is now complete and they will review it and make a decision?

If so, what is the next step? Will they notify me the packet is complete and being sent to the U.S. Embassy? Also, is there another fee I will have to pay at that time (or before that happens)?

THANKS!

You're going to need to call them to see if your case is complete. They won't email you about it.

And the case isn't send abroad until an interview date has been assigned. Once an interview date is assigned, you'll get an email. You will NOT get an email when the case is sent abroad though.

And no, there's no fee at the interview. That's for K1s (and possibly those that do DCF). There will be a medical fee though, which varies by country obviously. And there might be a courier fee you need to pay, either ahead of time or at the interview. You'll need to do your own research on this.

Guess I'll be calling them later in the week...perhaps Friday.

Paying a fee in person isn't a problem...just ensuring I don't have to do another one of those pay on their website things.

Thanks!
