Try to run, try to hide - break on through to the other side!

"Your visa application has been approved. Congratulations."

I think that was what the lady told me. When she got to that part, I kinda blacked out. I was in disbelief. "What did she say?" I thought to myself. I was tearing up. She said something like "you'll have your passport back in the mail within two weeks". I almost wanted to go back and ask her "Approved? Are you sure?" I wasn't sure I'd heard it right. But I thought to myself that she probably wouldn't have said "congratulations" if she'd denied me.

So... Yeah. There it is. It still hasn't sunk in yet. I think it will take at least a couple of days before I realize that it wasn't just a dream. When I was riding on the bus back into downtown Stockholm I thought something like "That was it? It's over?" It felt surreal.

I'm going to try to sum up my experience, but I only got home about an hour ago after a long day and a long afternoon/evening/night yesterday, so I need to gather my thoughts, so I will get back to you on that a little later.

:)

congrats that is awesome news. Prayers does work...

So, yeah. I think that is basically it. My wife called me when she got up. That was one cool, emotional phone call. I'm exhausted now, writing this. It's been a long day, it's been an emotional day, but it has also been a good day. A very good day indeed. :)

Thank you so much. :)

I submitted my review of the embassy.

It feels weird. I remember very distinctly back when I first signed up here on VJ and I read a lot of reviews of the Stockholm embassy, and it all seemed so distant, so far away in the future. Now that I have come all the way to the point were our visa application has been approved, it all feels kind of surreal.

I talked about that with my mom yesterday and she feels the same way. We think it has a lot to do with the fact that when the process, the journey, when it starts, you know you're in for a long, long wait, and you don't know exactly when it will all be over. So get you used to people asking what's going on and you get used to telling them "I don't know, we're still waiting". And after all this time has passed, for me at least, I think it will take a little while before I'll get used to not having to tell people I don't know how long before I get my visa. I don't know if any of you whose applications have been approved, if you agree, but that's how I feel. I think it will take a while before it sinks in. I am very, very happy and very relieved of course... but I often catch myself feeling amazed that it's over. It's over.

By the way... In my timeline, it says: "Your I-130 was approved in 152 days from your NOA1 date. Your interview took 301 days from your I-130 NOA1 date."

It's been some work for real. Just glad I am about 3/4 done. Oh to have EP. Although can't imagine scanned all this either LOL

Lagos better appreciate my efforts ready for a December interview. Or I'll just be hangin in the NVC thread forever. :D

Hey we need to design some VisaJourney T-shirts so we can wear to interview. I won't a good.gifand headbonk.gif emoticon on my shirt with my name on back hehe. Is it legal for me to do?

Dwheels, I think that was very smart of you to do, we had over 8lbs worth of evidence and trust me it is a lot of work putting your name and number on all the pages. My husband usually sends us package from UNILAG and it gets to us in a week. If he sends it from Ibadan we usually get it in 2 weeks.

I hope your package arrives soon so you can come on over to NVC.

My guess is your package will be about 8lbs or slightly over?.

Mr Borkstrom, congrats on your interview. That was surely a good experience.

Thank you 1love. Yes coming out of Unilag (well Ajah, Lekki) but the dang post office didn't send when he dropped off on the 10th. They wouldn't say WHEN they sent it they apologized and said it would be here end of this week.

So I am so ready to send this stuff off. And come on over. Gosh I am loving this stamping. WOW could have had a VisaJourney stamping party. hehe

Well, I guess that's just how I am sometimes (although not all of the time). I don't think I have ever been in such an emotional situation as this one. I've spent a long time keeping my emotions in check and not allowed myself to get ahead of myself and take anything for granted, even if my wife and I never could think of any reasons why they would turn us down. Maybe now when it's all over, I can let loose a little more. Open up the flood gates. ;)

Those magic words btw; "Your visa application has been approved. Congratulations." I still can't say the words without tearing up and have my voice fail me.
