Time between submitting AOS/D230 and embassy interview?

Hi all,

I was wondering what's the average wait time between submitting the Affidavit of Support and D230 and the notice for the embassy interview? (Also, when you receive the notice, how far in advance is the embassy interview normally scheduled? So for example, if you get the notice for interview in October, would it say that the interview is scheduled in November, December, January?)

I'm asking because my husband (who's a Russian citizen) is currently working in Canada. We are hoping to have our interview at the US Consulate here. However, his contract ends at the end of December. We're worried that we might have to leave Canada before the interview is even scheduled here. We're also worried that we would have to reschedule the interview in Russia, which would further delay the processing. (We haven't sent in the AOS or D230 applications yet.) There is another option of changing his status in Canada to "Visitor" after his contract ends, though I'm not sure if it will be approved.

Does anyone have experience with this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
