  1. 1. Has the Visa process soured your view of the US Government?

    • Yes. I just wish the government could stay out of our way.

    • A little. This process is frustrating, but it doesn't change my opinion on the rest of government

    • No. This is just a part of life. And I am happy to jump through the hoops because I trust the government

    • My opinion couldn't get any more soured on the government, so this just reinforces it.

My fiance has just received her Visa and will be finally entering the US in the next few days. So now I am researching a thinking about all of the additional hoops that we need to jump through and more money to spend just to get the approval of the almighty government so that we can be together.

For me, this process has really soured my view of the government. I am finding all of the paperwork and hoops completely unnecessary. And it is making me quite angry at the additional stress and money that I need to spend. I am finding that it is changing my beliefs about this country. And I am now really wishing that the United States had completely open borders for people to come and go as they please from any country. And no working requirements, so that anyone could work in the United States whenever they wanted without the government getting in the way.

I am curious how many others struggling through this process are having their opinions changed by being put through this meat grinder of a process?

Every country has processes 'similar' to that of the US. They may not be as stringent or ####### in some circumstances, but I am sure some countries are worse.

If the country had completly open borders that means murders, rapists, political terrorists, people from poorer countries who will happily do your job for 1/10th of your wage- anyone could get in and the country would not be in a good place. All these things, the extenuating immigration measures we have to do are to protect the US and USC's. Again while they may be over the top, they are there to serve not hinder the USC's.

My husband and I made sure we were aware of what was involved with the US immigration process so we weren't overwhelmed when it came down to everything we had to do.

Yes, I am frustrated at the process but I understand and appreciate it.

After all, immigration is a privilege and not a right.
