Hello All,

My wife was at VFS office in India few days ago to submit all rest of the document before the interview. When she went over there she tried to submit the copy of the DS 230, which i had submit the original to NVC before. They said no; they will not take the copy of DS 230; she was asked to submit original DS 230, which she had to fill out but here in USA, i had already submitted DS 230 before, so my question is:

Is this normal part of the process in India where applicant has to submit original DS 230 again?

And also when my wife filled out the DS 230 form at VFS office, that form had old expiration date on the form, I know that now on NVC website, they have DS 230 form with new expiration date, so my question is:

was it ok that my wife submitted DS 230 form with old expiration date on it?

Please help. I am just hoping everything goes well at the interview.

Dude...VFS and Mumbai Consulate r very specific for Docs....Before Interview ..yes we hav to submit a new and Original DS-230 Part I & II...They ask for new one is true...

Apart from that they also ask for Original Birth Certificate even if we hav submitted at NVC ...I hav heard in some cases that VFS guys also ask for Original BC even though we submitted that at NVC....

Abt ur second que, dont worry the form ur wife submitted with old expiration date will be considered by CO....DOS has just released new form with new expiration date so not all r aware of this....

Can u tell me apart from DS-230, which other original docs were asked by VFS to submit...i.e. Original BC, Marriage certificate or...I-864 form....???

No. They accept even the copy of DS-230 which one submit at NVC. But then, it is not a big deal as DS-230 is signed by only applicant. Besides, You can submit the originals if you have not already submitted to NVC only to collect it when interview is over.

Good Luck

Please help. I am just hoping everything goes well at the interview.

I filled DS-230 for my wife in pdf editor tool then saved it and forwarded to my wife. Same document was printed and signed by my wife in DS-230 Part - I for NVC. Recently she made another print of the same document and submitted to VFS with Part - I signed in form.

Expiration date on DS-230 is for DOS review expiration date, you can even use old expiration date DS-230 for VFS and Interview.
