My wife has her interview next week and she wanted to know if when they ask you a question do you have to give all possible answers that they have listed? She has them memorized but just wanted to know in case she forgets to mention all 3 answers for some of the questions.

My wife has her interview next week and she wanted to know if when they ask you a question do you have to give all possible answers that they have listed? She has them memorized but just wanted to know in case she forgets to mention all 3 answers for some of the questions.

Depends on the question. Some questions actually specify the number of responses required. i.e. "name 3 of...". Some questions have multiple answers, but unless the question asks specifically for X number of responses, just one is required.

For example:

1. What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment? - There are 5 possible answers, the question specifies only one

2. What are 2 rights in the Declaration of Independence? - 3 possible answers, only 2 required

3. What is the rule of law? - 4 possible answers in the study guide, only 1 is required because it doesn't specify a number

4. What is the name of the Vice-President of the United States now? - only one answer but they'll accept variations, such as just his last name, his whole name, or his full legal name.

Me and my wife had our interview this past Tuesday and we both did great.

On my case he IO was very nice and friendly, he put me at ease with some jokes.

Howevever, though I did pass the tests and the interview went well he said he could not make my decision based that my file was a green folder, meaning it was incomplete. He made it clear it had nothing to do with me but rather that he had not yet received the whole file. He did say a letter would be sent to me in the next couple of days. I searched around other posts and have seen stories on how people have gone months post-interview without taking that final step of the oath. Can anybody shed more light on this for me please? My wife had her file complete and is having her oath on Friday.

To Angeles: yes the West Kendall office is also having oaths this Friday and that's where my wife will be taking hers.

I had my interview this morning. it was a breeze. The officer was nice the same guy when we have my green card interview. it was so casual. He didnt request to see any other documentation that I brought with me. we went through my application and checked off everything. had me sign and intial at the end and that was it!

we then moved to the test. I had to read a sentence regarding which state has most people?

then he had me write California has most people or something like that.

then we moved to the 6 questions:

4 amendment regarding voting

who controls the executive branch

one right in first amendment

now i can't think of the rest!

I also had a criminal case that was expunged but was never convicted in and he gave me the paper at the end that approved me on the spot, i was expecting him to submit for review! he then said I should receive my oath letter within the month.

My wife's update:

BIOMETRICS: 12/31/12 (Originally scheduled for 10/31, but Hurricane Sandy closed the office so she got rescheduled)

INTERVIEW: 3/4/13

Does anybody know how long till the oath after the interview in Long Island City, Queens? Her interview is March 4th, but I'm going away on business trip on March 16th, and I would like to see it. I get back late April, we'll reschedule if they give her a date when I'm away.

My wife had her interview this morning in Long Island City, in Queens, NY.

She aced it.

6 for 6 on the civics questions below:

  1. Who is the "father of our country"?
  2. If the Prez and VP can't serve, who becomes Pres?
  3. Who is in charge of the Executive branch?
  4. Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?
  5. When do we celebrate Independence Day?
  6. Name 2 national US holidays.

The lady asked her to read "Where is Congress located?" Then she had to write "Congress is in Washington"

Then she asked some of the biographical questions from the form and then the yes/no questions.

And then she congratulated her and asked if she wanted to wait for her oath letter or get it in the mail. She said that she'd wait. It's faster that way and I'm going on a 5-week business trip to Asia in 12 days, so by waiting it almost ensured that I would be able to see her oath ceremony. It worked out well, her oath is in 8 days, next week, a couple of days before I leave.
