N-400 SEPTEMBER 2012 FILERS

Just as I was getting ready to say good bye to 2012,my case got updated and I have now been scheduled for interview! Will have to wait for the letter to find out the exact date, hopefully they didnt schedule it too soon, we are going on vacation 1/6-1/11.

My details for reference: Application sent 9/18, early bio 10/3 and have been in line for interview since 10/8. (Hartford, CT - DO)

Does anyone from Chicago field office, who have filed N-400 application on September 2012, have got interview letter? My Priority date is September 13, 2013 and Did my Bio on Oct 5 2013. I am still on "Initial Review" stage. I think they have forgot about my application. I am desperately waiting to be citizen so that I can upgrade my wife's I-130 petition.

Hi formywife! When you checked your online status, was it "Placed inline for interview" or "Scheduled for interview" ?

I've been "inline for interview" since Oct.31,2012. Then " scheduled for interview" last Dec.27,2012.

I should receive the Interview Letter for place and time in the next 7-14 days after Dec.27. (You will receive IL only after you have been scheduled for interview as per online status. But remember that sometimes USCIS website has some glitches).

Formywife, when you check your status online, does it say that you were placed in line for interview scheduling? If you were placed in line, then your status should have been updated to the "Testing and Interview" stage. If your status does not indicate that you have been placed in line, maybe you should call USCIS and try to talk to someone, although I don't know how much help they will be.

If it makes you feel any better, being "placed in line" doesn't seem to mean very much. My husband was placed in line for interview scheduling on October 2nd and still hasn't been scheduled. Meanwhile, I know of several other people in Chicago who were placed in line in mid or late October and have already had their interviews scheduled. Super annoying...but what can you do?

I called USCIS Customer service and they say that They cannot find whether my interview letter has been already sent or not. well my status has been on initial review since October 3. around dec 28 or something received the yellow letter which tells me that my file has been sent to my local office, Pittsburgh, I called and spoke to 2nd level person who told me that yellow letter was a good sign!

I received a white paper with the date and time of interview (Jan.31,2013 at 10:30am).it's funny,my interview is in Jackson,MS and i thought it was going to be in New Orleans. I never knew anyone having their interview in Jackson...really..!

How come it says on my White Paper •request for Applicant to Appear for Initial Interview"? Is there a second interview? No Yellow Paper for me...whatcha guys think...?

Had my interview yesterday. Everything went smooth. Read and wrote a sentence. Then answered 6 questions and was approved. Oath ceremony on jan 17! :-)

I had my interview in Indianapolis yesterday and was done in 30 min. My appointment was for 12:00 and I checked in around 11:50. After waiting for about 20 minutes, I was called in and made to take the oath. What was also interesting is that the entire proceeding was video recorded.

The officer said that she was going to start with the test and asked me the following questions:

1. How many members does the house of representative have

2. How many years do we elect the representatives for.

3. Name one war fought in the 1900

4. Name the chief justice of the United States.

5. In what month do we vote for the president.

6. What is the last day to file our Federal taxes.

She had a printed sheet that had all the above questions listed on them and in addition to checking off the boxes indicating that the answers were correct she was also making note of my responses.

Once we were done with the test, she asked me to read Who was the first president of the United States and following that asked me to write that George Washington was the first president.

With the testing portion done, she started off with a review of my N-400 application and asked me my full name and reviewed the application in detail. As she went through the application she marked a tick along each section.

Around the travel section, I mentioned that I had taken a overseas trip after the application and before the interview. She asked me how long the trip was for and on responding that it was for 4 days, she did not even bother marking that on the application.

Around the Yes and No question section she asked me if I had been convicted, detained etc.. to which I responded no. She asked me if I had a speeding ticket and I replied that I had one back in 2009. All she asked was if I had paid it and I replied that I had.

With that done she congratulated me and said that she will be recommending me for oath. She gave me the letter acknowledging that I had passed the exam and walked me back to the waiting area at 12:30.

Over all it was a pretty pleasant experience.

This Journey is finally over...so much Paper work...this final stage was the one which was with the least amount of paper work...the oath ceremony was great...even met Christopherevan there...from this forum...I cried when the song went...I am Proud to be an American....went to the social security office, changed status...no new SSN...just updating...sent voters registration application....got the passport...feels surreal...now have to work on my OCI/PIO for India...that's another process...and more dollars to spend.

Could not have done this Journey without the forums and Visa Journey...saved us tons of Lawyers Fees...and we learned a lot along the curve....once your done...you don't feel like bothering to come back and write your experience...but we have tried to come back and write...so it might help others, as we were helped by others who wrote before us.

Updating my oath taking schedule, I received the notice yesterday, that was quick! oath ceremony will be on January 17th at 8:30 am, that is too early
