I am an emotional wreck... I had to get on a plane yesterday and leave my husband or chance overstaying my visa. His paperwork is down to just the last form the IV bill and DS230 form.... medical and interview.. I have no clue how long to expect for him to be coming home... but leaving yesterday was one of the hardest things I have ever done, I feel like I have left the other half of my soul in another country... how do you do it? any advice on how to toughen up? because I am just a blubbering idiot. I went to walmart today and a bag of strawberry marshmellows sent me over the edge because I made him rice crispy treats with strawberry marshmellows... I feel like a basket case. I know I can do this I know it shouldn't be toooooo much longer but my heart is just broken.

I'm with you on this one... my husband is leaving tomorrow and I'm waiting for my interview date which will probably by in October

How to cope? good question but everyone has different coping mechanisms. as for me I think that lately I was trying to take as many pictures of him as possible and we established a schedule of talking on Skype(almost every day!!). I'm lucky because my best friend is in a similar situation(her husband is away for work constantly) so we will be sulking together I guess...

Just try to be positive and focuse on that moment you will see him again.... I think that is what I'll do. Write letters, take pictures and think that soon it will be over.

Hope this helps, chin up - you will be there soon enough!

It's always hard to know just how long things are going to take but the good news it that you are near the end of the process, many people end up spending years apart :(. I have been to the US twice to visit since I moved to India to be with my husband and his family and each time it has been a tear jerker at the airport. I have spent 5 months away from him this past time (with our then 6 month old daughter) and the previous time closer to 6 months so that I could work to pay off my student loan. I am hoping it won't happen a 3rd time. My husband just had his interview last week but I am pregnant and so have tickets to fly out on the 18th of September (can't wait much longer as you can't travel pregnant the last month on international flights). It will get easier after a week or so. Skype definitely helps and it makes the reunion that much sweeter ;). Hang in there, try to get involved in other things. Preparing the house for him in special ways or hanging out with your friends and family. Staying busy makes the time pass faster:).

I can totally sympathise.

I was married 3 days and my husband had to leave.Im going to try visit the US soon but will have to return to the UK to complete the CR1 process,so will have to say goodbye for the 8th time.

But we have to remember once the process is done we wont ever have to be unsure when we'll see our loved ones again. We're all so close now. The initial parting at the airport is awful, and its normal to feel really down for a while after. But you soon get used to coping with being apart again. Everyday that passes is a day closer to getting back together again............still sucks though!!

Thank you for all the kind words... He and I had to live apart for awhile in the UK while I was going to uni and I thought I could look at it as being like that... but its not like I can just jump on a coach and be there in a few hours to spend time with him.. Oh the airport that was the worst experience of my life... and I know thats what I keep telling myself.. everyday that goes by is a day closer to him being here. I just feel really lost right now.. I have been doing the family thing but things just don't feel complete... there is a chunk missing.. like today my friends are having a big BBQ for me and I don't even want to go... I know I have been out of the country for a year but it doesn't feel like home anymore... home is where the heart is and my heart is in the UK...

sorry to sound so whiney... I am just in that kinda place right now
