I guess my problem with this Situation are:

1) Mr. Fox is Canadian, 2) If he is Resident or Now a Naturalized USC, he does not reside in the districts/states where he is using his illness as a political ploy in television ads. And 3) Michael J Fox though living with a tragic disease and a great actor he is nonetheless a High School drop out and now expert on Stem Cell Research?

If they want to really make this issue a campaign issue then present actual research and scientific data--why try and make Mr. Fox the poster boy of a maybe method of curing disease.

Limbaugh (so far as I am familiar with him) has a proven history of derailing an issue for his own political gain. Someone posted an article a few months ago in which he was berrating a woman for her lack of "personal responsibility" after she blamed GWB for her having to have an abortion. He totally ignored the issue at the centre of the story - that the woman had the abortion because of restrictions over the availability of the morning after pill.

Nowt to do with this, but since you bring it up, you're right, he's a B@stard FOR ADVOCATING PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY! why the unmitigated gall!

Since when do you have to live in a district/state to campaign in it? I don't think there is one district/state (at least on the federal level) that does not have outsiders helping campaign. Under your argument, no one from the outside can campaign where they don't live.

Does being a high school drop out make someone less informed? That is an argument you probalby won't win.

That's the problem with outsiders meddling in local politics. We create districts and states and have polling places etc. in the actual state where the representative or senator lives. That is because the people that live in that region are the ones being represented. Notice that Cynthia McKenny (Dem -GA) lost because she took money and support from those not in her district--though her district was structured so by census to assure that a democrat african-american would win--but unfortunately she faced another democrat who is african-american in the primary--he didn't accept out-of-state money, and she did like 60%--she lost--she didn't represent the people in her district. The whole idea of having districts and state is to have local representation on a national level--if you allow outsiders to control every-single district through out the land then you will just end up with the Rich and powerful states and entities controlling every other district and state--this is not the idea of a representative democracy and flies in the face of our constitutional political structure of having representatives based on population in each state set up in voting districts.

Um what argument--someone that has never finished high school is always less informed then someone that continued in school--there isn't an argument--less educated = less informed. Even Mr. Fox acknowledge that his life's regret was that he never finished high school nor went to college.

"what you do in Missouri matters to millions of Americans. Americans like me."

Full quote from the story:

Fox's ad urges voters that "what you do in Missouri matters to millions of Americans. Americans like me." The ad ends with a picture of McCaskill and her voice approving the message.
A native of Canada, Fox became an American citizen in 2000

I don't actually agree that someone who has less education is less informed that someone with a higher level of education.

Agreed. Fox is entitled to express his opinion. He clearly (honestly) thinks he may benefit from embryonic stem cell research, as did Christopher Reeve, as do many other people suffering from incurable and degenerative illnesses. I don't see the problem personally.

No, he's a ba$tard for pretending to advocate personal responsibility. He only advocates personal responsibility as long as he talks about those he opposes. He himself or those he supports do not need to live up to the standards he measures others against. Again, according to himself, rather than spewing his hateful ####### through the airwaves, he should be spending time in prison. ;)

What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too.

I admit, I am less informed on this subject then (say) Michael J. (A.) Fox. How are we to determine the difference between embryonic and adult stem cell research?

In his ad he say "stem cell" but does not differentiate

I remember the list of Mexican immigration laws posted here awhile back...

I'm no fan of Rush, but...

The bill in question would make the government pay for new lines of embryo stem cells. It would also legalize human cloning (albeit at the embryo level). The biggest beef most people have with it is the deceptive way the bill was written. In effect if you vote yes it really means no and if you vote no it really means yes. On the political front the ones that oppose the bill are being spun as not wanting any stem cell research when that is blatently not true.

Adult stem cells have the most promise. Embryo stem cells so far hasn't given any results.

I am sure that MJF has done plenty of research on the subject. And might I add some of the most intelligent people in the world did not go to college. And on a immigration board such as this, why would you bring up that he is Canadian. Aren't we all trying to become USC. Just cause your born in Canada doesn't mean that once you become a USC your point is any less valid.

And Mr. Fox should be the poster boy, he was stricken by this disease at such a young age. He will have to fight it a lot longer than most. Let him fight and give the good fight. IT's for the quality of his life.

Yes, I've seen that fact sheet already, how about a link informing us of the actual bill?

Someone trying to 'pin' an abortion on Bush is wrong. Bush didn't make her have an abortion, and the notion is completely ridiculous. No one held a gun to the woman's head, no one made the woman not use birth control, no one prevented her from going to another pharmacy, no one prevented her from adoption, no one prevented her from keeping her child.......and no one MADE her have an abortion, and the assertation of such is complete lunacy & the only people who could even fathom 'blaming' Bush for this are idiots.

White drug use? YES that's a problem...but white drug use is a different topic here. Her blaming Bush is not justified cos he's a junkie. And neither of this is really central to MJF issue either.
