Listen to this, then decide.

I have a dial up connection, so it would take for ever to download the commercial of Fox and I'm not even going to bother to listen to anything on NPR about Limbaugh. What did Air America have to say about what Limbaugh said? LOL

I don't doubt Fox has something wrong with him, because I have seen him on Letterman and you could see there was something wrong, but you have to think if he did in fact write that in his book that he could have been playing it up for effect.

First of all he was taken out of context.. Actually I think the Democrats are scumbags to use someone who is suffering to gain a political advantage.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

No one put a gun to Fox's head to do the commercials and if the Democrats do win the house and senate he possibly stands to come out a winner if they spend more money on stem celll research.

Now I could hear the Democrats whine if the Republicans started running ads with some woman that say she has been greatly affected mentally by having an abortion and starts sobbing as she speaks.

oh of course, better we get rid of someone who agrees with bush 94% of the time and install someone who won't even do her job

It's almost as if someone could say they will destroy the world yet hates Bush and Democrats would cheer for them.. What is wrong with that picture....

Democrats are all about 'IFs'..

Typical discussion with a democrat leader....

Democrats: We need change..

Others: Wow no ###### geniuses... So what are some of your magical solutions / changes..

Democrats: ummm me need change.

Others: Yes we know, you said that already 100 times. So what are your new ideas...

Democrats: Bush is a dickhead..

Others: yes we know that too, so what are those new ideas...

Democrats: ummm your racist...

Others: Ok sure I am now what about this change of direction

Democrats: your a religious nut.

Others: Sure i can be that too so what about an idea or two..

Democrats: umm I am not speaking with you, you, you Haliburton loving twit..

Leaves the room to go to a Hollywood actor's party, due to scoring a $25 million role in a film, for the people of course.. It's those executives, I tell you, that are money hungry..

Michael J. Fox has Parkinson's disease - and the symptoms of that disease are apparent whether he is medicated or not. You are used to seeing Fox (the actor) at a point where he is able to control his tremors (and his appearances on Boston Legal NOT Spin City as I previously said were shot 'around' his condition). You are not used to seeing Fox's day-to-day experience as a man with a debilitating degenerative disease.

Limbaugh (so far as I am familiar with him) has a proven history of derailing an issue for his own political gain. Someone posted an article a few months ago in which he was berrating a woman for her lack of "personal responsibility" after she blamed GWB for her having to have an abortion. He totally ignored the issue at the centre of the story - that the woman had the abortion because of restrictions over the availability of the morning after pill.

On THIS issue, Limbaugh is focussing on Fox's disability and the dishonestly of both Fox and the Democrats in the presentation of the ad, and not the issue itself - that of stem cell research. Fox wants an expansion of stem cell research - which he believes will enable better treatment for his condition.

I don't know whether Fox said that or not - the point surely is that even if he is "off his meds" (and as someone else suggested - its the meds that cause the tremors) what is the problem? I mean Rush hardly stood up to slam the Reps for their presentation of "flip-flop" Kerry, which was a fabricated smear campaign. Are they suddenly saying that (as polls show worrying numbers for the Reps) that "dirty politics" is somehow unfair?

Sorry, I don't buy it. Certainly not from the mouth of a crock/crook like Limbaugh.

Have you guys actually listened to his talk show or do you just ignore him yet criticize him on selective information.. First of all he said "He's either off his medication or acting. He is an actor, after all. " direct quote

I see a big or there but some seem to have missed that and taken it our of context... It's like someone saying "I hate Asians, who support Iran" and then having democrats turn around and state that, he said he "hates Asians", period..

Do they need to stoop that low to win, ###### man that is disgraceful... Cindy Sheehan says she wants to "kill George Bush as an infant", basically advocating murdering a child yet I hear absolutely no outcry from the same critics of Rush on this statement.. or is it different when you take a democrat out of context..

I've listened to his show on occasion, but I'm familiar with his style of debate.

Fox is an actor - yes. He is also a man with a disease, who has political interests (same as everything else). Quite how Limbaugh can claim with any degree of certainty how Fox is exaggerating is beyond me. I mean... he doesn't live or work with the guy on a day to day basis.

Just what is Limbaugh's experience with Parkinsons? Similarly why is it Fox should be expected to hide his symptoms of that disease?

At least be honest. If Fox is "faking/exaggerating" (and I don't think he is), how is this different to the Republican bully-boy election strategy over the last 6 years?

Hmm.. I remember seeing something about Fox appearing before congress a few years back and how stated he did not take his medication, on that occasion, to show the true effects of the disease.. While I feel sorry for him as it is a terrible disease I see no difference in him using it to his advantage and Rush stating his opinion on it..

People act as if stem cell research is a miracle cure. There are other methods that can be used to cure diseases. Otherwise why stop at stem cells. Why not support large scale testing on animals or even humans, as the Nazis did..

Where was Nancy Reagan on Alzheimer before her husband was diagnosed? She also is an advocate for stem cell research despite the republican party stand on it.

Some times we learn the hard way about an issue.

There's no proof that embryonic stem cell research will yield a cure to things like Parkinsons. Fox (as a layperson. In fact as ANY person with a similar incurable condition) sees potential in the preliminary research.

Why is Fox doing a campaign video in the interests of an issue he has a personal investment in any different from a "civilian" with a similar condition voting for a candidate who supports that issue?

Have you actually listened to him?

Here, take this and explain to me why Rush Limbaugh, the admitted drug addict, is not doing time in prison:

Limbaugh on Drugs

There's nothing good about drug use. We know it. It destroys individuals. It destroys families. Drug use destroys societies. Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in societies and neighborhoods, which become consumed by them. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up.

What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too.

I guess if celebrities were immortal and didn't get these conditions - you'd be ok with that?

They're not and they do. And... like many regular people who get cancer, Parkinsons, Motor Neurone Disease, HIV/AIDS etc, they campaign and fundraise for research.

What's the problem? just that Fox is rich and famous and can get himself on TV? What else should he do - shut himself up at home and hide himself from the public view?

He is a working actor, yes. He is also a man suffering from the very real symptoms of an incurable disease. His personal and political interests are served by supporting candidates who support his direct self interest. In this case, stem cell research.

BTW Self-interest is what people used to vote for before politics became all about clever presentation, slogans and spin.
