Philadelphia POE denied entry

On Thursday I was at the Philadelphia airport to pick up my Anna.

I met and elderly woman and man who told me they were there to pick up there son's girlfriend from Russia.

Actually it was the woman's son the man was just a friend.

I told them I was picking up my wife and she is from Russia.

They showed me the passport picture of the girl and some other Photos from a web site.

They did not give me much more info except the that her son met this girl online and she was flying from Moscow thru Paris and the girl is a Dentist and already has a job here.

I gave the women my cell number and told her to have her son call me and we could get together.

My wife Anna arrived and we left the airport.

About 7 pm this woman call me and told me that the girl called then to say she was turned back at the Philadelphia airport and was told she was being denied entry because there were to many people trying to get into US.

I told the woman that it did not sound right and asked to have her son call me.

Does anyone know this person? Is it a true story? Is this a new type of scam?

It sounds kind of fishy. If she had the visa already, she wouldn't have been turned away. "Sorry, America's full."

Plus, why wasn't the son there? If his girlfriend was immigrating from Russia, you would think that he would want to meet her at the POE with his family.

Could be a scam, could be a big miscommunication. Maybe she thought she was coming here for the job but didn't have a visa yet. Who knows. I'd like to hear more about this story.

It's a scam.

My brother waited at the airport more than once for a lady from Russia that always had some kind of reason why she was unable to make it. She convinced him to help fund her costs for a tourist visa and plane tickets and sick relatives etc. etc. I was finally able to convince him he was being taken when I found a website that featured scamming women from Russia and even had a picture of the same woman that my brother had pictures of and identified her as one of many scammers.

Sounds like a scam, would not be the first.

Or she had a Visitors Visa but was not able to substantiate non immigrant intent.

More likely with that story, a scam.

I'm going with "scam" on this one as well.

I would have looked where the woman was calling from. I would think that even if she was "denied entry" she would have been allowed at least one phone call if she had said "people are waiting for me..."

I bet the son sent money for her plane flight.

I also bet he will never see a kopeck of this money back again...

My wife thinks she arrived and just skipped on the guy.

Philadelphia has the 3 largest Russian population.

But what I don't get is why the guy sent his mother to the airport.

The mother was Italian and spoke broken english. I started to question her and she did not know what kind of visa the girl had. But insisted she already had a job.

Yes sounds like the send me money to come meet you scam...

then again we do not know IF he sent money for her trip... :unsure:
