Over the years I've had people ask me how did you deal with the stress of a Long Distance Relationship (LDR) for so many years? I've also read about others on Visa Journey dealing with or going through similar stress of being apart. People that love each other and want to be together will miss each other and it can be very difficult to go weeks, months and sometimes like in my husband and I's own immigration case it can be delayed years. I certainly sympathize with you. (F)

I found this recent article to be a good read: How Can I Clear My Mind? It offers helpful tips about Basic Meditation for Stress Management and an article on Different Types of Meditation Techniques for Relaxation. Other tips to lower stress levels would be to eat a healthy diet and exercise even if it's just an hour walk five days a week. Since this is a public forum members are also welcome to offer their tips on how they dealt with LDRs and the stress of the immigration process.

Much love and best wishes on where ever you are in your immigration journey. (L)

staying off vj works for me

At the risk of seeming anti-VJ I'd have to agree. Naturally most will be stressed to some degree about not only being seperated but fearing the whole process. Sure horror stories can be found here but normally people who sail through the whole thing don't seek out forums such as VJ and post all their (positive) experiences.

Just do your very best to not obsess like I did, remember that you have a legitimate case (hopefully) and as a consequence there should be no major problems - it will work out eventually (though never soon enough).

Buy some chocolate too.

Happily married (save for distance) since August 2008!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

spooks, when is yer lass returning? I miss her, noting you get exceptionally cranky during her absence and have switched to watching/living 'Breaking Bad' tv series.
