I'm not going to say whether this woman was sane, insane, etc. I am going to say though, as a woman who struggles with infertility every day of her life, she's a beast for doing this to her child.

I would love, absolutely love, to be carrying a child in my "stomach" right now. After all the things I have been through in the last 2 years and especially the last 6 months. I could never in any state of mind harm my unborn child. They are precious little beings that are gifts from God. I struggle every day to understand why I haven't been blessed with one myself. It's very frustrating to deal with and to see a story like this just makes me sick. She had other options. There are plenty of people out there like me who would love to have had that child.

No matter what her mental state was she had no excuse. She may have been desperate but I would never say anyone had the right to kill a child in desperation. She's no different than Susan Smith or any of those other ladies who killed their children.

A murderer is a murderer is a murderer and you will never convince me it's okay for a woman to kill her unborn child. Not when so many women struggle every day to have one of their own.

Thank you! People who don't struggle with infertility have no idea the burden and strain it puts on you. It's very hard to deal with. I just keep my faith in God that one day he will give us our little blessing or two or three. I would be happy with anything at this point.

That's exactly why stories like this upset me so much. Of all the women out there who don't want that wonderful little thing growing in them, there are probably just as many who would love to have it. She had other choices, she just made the wrong one.

I would agree if you said "birth control pill, diaphragm, rubber (condom) and/or spermicide". However, mifeprestol ("morning after pill") is an abortifacient--so using it means the woman HAS chosen abortion, just a method which "looks cleaner" (actually, the possible complications of mifeprestol make it a WORSE choice).

The majority of times that a parent, particularly a mother, can kill their own child needs compassion yes as their state of mind has to be horrific in order to do so. Am I saying it is right, of course not. But there is so little compassion in this thread for a woman who is mentally unstable and at the time felt she had no choice. What this woman did was even beyond the hypothetical situation of shooting one of the other two children. She shot herself to kill her unborn child. How desperate and unstable one has to be to do this in this way, boggles my mind.

If this form of contraception is available at the hospital when she makes her rape exam then she won't need to have an abortion... she certainly won't need to wait until the day she's in labor to shoot her baby while in the stomach.

She spread her legs to this guy (has two kids already) she gets pregnant,waits till due date (9 months= plenty of time to think) Then proceeds to blast a hole in the baby and kills him or her (not it) who to BLAME? desperation,insanity,the excuses are endless, It is what it is plain and simple,she murdered her baby! Counceling................. COUNCELING, Yep she can get that every day while she is doing her life sentence.

I'm too lazy to read the whole thing, but the morning after pill is neither mifepristol or an abortifacient.

The morning after pill is a series of pills with a higher dose of the same hormones found in birth-control pills. THe morning after pill prevents implantation of a fertilized egg.

This is MUCH different than mifepristol AKA RU-486 which causes miscarriage of an establised pregnancy.
