IMO, abortion is wrong. I can see where some cases people want to make it legal such as rape, or in this chicks case (maybe). But still, it is wrong. A child is a gift from God. There are many people that can't have children that would give anything for a baby. I don't care the case, I think adoption is STILL the best option. Someone in my area did that as well, same scenario, she got off scott-free.

You need to do some research on the adoption/foster care system in the US. Giving a child up for adoption does't neccessarily equal giving them a better life. There are some really horrid cases out there and I have had friends who have seen it up close. I think that abortion at an early stage should be allowed as long as the adoption and foster care system remains the way that it is. Children don't get adopted as easily as we would like to think and once they pass a certain age the chances of being adopted decrease. There are sickos out there who take in foster children just for the money that comes with it and the children end up living miserable lives full of abuse and neglect. While there are people out there who "would give anything for a baby" many would rather spend loads of money getting fertility treatments then turn to adoption. Or they just resort to adopting overseas, as is the latest trend.

Killing babies will not solve the foster parent issue, welfare, homelessness, single-parent families, or neglect. Historically, I think it would be fair to say that since abortion has been legal, those things have gotten worse in this country.

I disagree, those situations are just more widely known and documented now.

As for the statistics of those that believe in God, they are skewed as they also include those that are not practicing their faith through choice. e.g. I was raised a catholic but I am not a practicing catholic and there is much that I don't believe in of that faith. I still believe in god just not the church. I would not have an abortion myself, not because of any religious beliefs, but I do believe in a womans right to choose.

A little piece of trivia:

  • Q: what right was first granted specifically by NAZI GERMANY?
  • A: Abortion

I'm also going to add my Re. 1 worth: I have NEVER seen "pro-choice" protestors in front of Chinese Embassy (and I HAVE driven by it lately--Red China is a country which FORCES abortions to enforce "one-child" policy; certainly the only one here who has a "choice" is the government) or Indian (country known for rampant sex-selection abortions--from societal ideology; though laws exist against this, very poorly enforced. Tell me how the woman has a "choice" here?). Till I do, I'll consider the term "pro-abortion" more accurate than "pro-choice"!

If you study slavery, people said that getting rid of slavery would be bad for blacks and even torture because they said that blacks could not take care of themselves and were better off as slaves. They were wrong on that one, too.

Every life is precious from natural conception to natural death and deserves protection. Those that are most fragile-the young and old-who can not defend themselves, need the most protection.

I'm not saying it will solve the foster parent issue or any of the other issues listed above but it will prevent many children from having to suffer in the system from abuse and neglect. I was just responding to the fact that some people think when you give a child up for adoption you are giving them a better life. In most cases, you are not.

As I said, I'll believe it when I see a crowd of "pro-choice" protestors demonstrating in front of Indian embassy/consulates against sex-selection abortion, or Chinese about forced "one-child-policy-enforcement" abortions!

oh, ok  Find me one person that is denied anything in this country. There are so many options for those that are down and out and loads of people that volunteer and do social work everyday to help them. Your statement is a slap in the face to all those that work so hard to run those programs. You have a very negative attitude about the world. I am sorry about that. Open your eyes. There are many good things happening around the world. There is still much work to be done and we need more hands-if you are interesting in helping, search out an organization in your community. I am sure they could use more hands, funds, food, gloves, diapers...

When we consider that women are treated as property, it is degrading to women that we should treat our children as property, to be disposed of as we see fit.
