You know, you don't HAVE to take a baby home with you from the hospital. She could have at least given birth and left it there, without getting into trouble. But instead she decided to end its life. In my opinion, that's unforgivable. She had no more right to kill that child than a stranger does.

Of course she wasn't thinking rationally! But she had 9 months to "think" about what exactly she was going to do. Baby doesn't just pop up overnight leaving you with no time to plan and come up with a solution. NO excuse for what she did.

I don't think we will be seeing many sane people shooting themselves at the 9 month mark. This woman was unstable. There may not have been any excuse for what she did, but I think they could have argued temporary insanity and it wouldn't have got the publicity it is getting now. This was all political.

And incredibly sad.

9 months of thinking to obviously cause even deeper mental issues. Have some compassion. I hope you never find yourself in a position where you feel you have no way out. People with mental issues caused for whatever reason, have no control over their thought pattern. They are not thinking rationally that is why they are called 'unstable' 'insane' etc. No-one here knows of the life this woman must of had or what was going on in her head. Jeeze.......to shoot yourself in the stomach to do this, this woman has some serious mental issues. This is tragic for all concerned.

I know a thing or two about mental issues and not thinking clearly. I have felt at times desperate enough to feel that there was only one solution to problems-and I have a few scars to prove it. I still don't buy that she was completely unaware of what her other options were-good heavens there's plenty of them! In the Pennysaver every week there's couples advertising that they will PAY all your medical expenses and legal fees if they can have your baby. You are allowed to leave a baby at a hospital without being charged with abandonment. There's birth control, morning after pills, plenty of ways out and "chances" to do something right. This is just too far gone for me to fully comprehend...

Does the state of VA not have a time limit that an abortion can legally be carried out? After like three months isn't the fetus considered an actual unborn baby in the law?

This thang should be in prison for murder... but it's cool if she's not... at least she'll be in hell when she dies
