Hey guys,

I was wondering if anybody knew how this works. We've flown many times to Nicaragua but we usually fly Continental. According to one of their agents, you're not allowed to check in online for international flights so we always went to the counter. But now we're flying American Airlines and from what I read online, you can check in on their website 24 hours prior to your flight as long as you're not traveling with an infant, etc.

But there are so many options (online check-in, curbside check-in, self-service kiosk) and I'm not sure how to go about it. If I understand correctly, you have to check in online in order to be able to use the curbside check in. Then again, I'm not sure. I'm also bringing one checked bag and not sure if that would prevent me from being able to check in online.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

You can check in online, as you say 24hours before departure.

As you go through the process the system will prompt you to enter the number of bags you wish to check.

All the same, when you arrive at the airport you will have to drop the bag at the curbside check in - if allowed - or at the check in counter.

It is not very different from the other airlines.

Bon voyage!

If anybody cares for an update, I was able to check-in online going to Nicaragua but not coming back. My flight left at 5:30AM from O'Hare but even though I had already checked in online, I still had to stand in line at the counter to check my bag because curbside check-in was still closed (I got at the airport around 3:30AM).
