Proof of Meeting

Hi all,

About to file the I-129F and am slightly worried about the proof of meeting. Me and my fiance lived in the same city for a year, and since she moved back home (6months ago) I've visited her once, so there's no dishonesty involved. Stupidly I never saved any boarding passes for either of us and am having trouble turning up documentation with both our names etc on it. Will visas and passport stamps backed up by photographs suffice? Does anybody have any other suggestions?

Passport stamps are better evidence than boarding passes anyway. You can also include any receipts or bank statements from either of you showing you used your credit/debit/ATM cards while visiting each other.

Copies of all airline boarding passes, train passes, itineraries, hotel receipts, passport stamps (make sure you can read the dates on the stamps), and other documentary evidence that you have met within the last two years. You may want to highlight or place post-it notes indicating the dates and locations on the copies (to make the adjudication easier) for the person reviewing your file.

Color Photo's of you and your fiance(e) together. Make sure you write your names, date, and location on the back of every photo. Provide two to five photo's

Thanks for the answers guys.

One more question: After scouring my apartment I've turned up a few useful bits and pieces of documentation, but my fiancee still hasn't found anything. Is it suspicious if I show a booking and e-ticket for both of us, but then can only show boarding cards, atm receipts, hotel receipts for myself and none for her?

You said you were both living in the same city. Was that city in her country? If so then travel documents and receipts for you alone should be sufficient. If not then it's likely they'll want some evidence that she also traveled to that country, and was there the same time you were.

Booking receipts and e-tickets aren't useful. They prove you booked accommodations, but they don't prove you actually traveled. Boarding passes prove you got on the plane. Passport stamps prove you arrived in the country.
