Hello all, I need your help I posted way back in April that I have a husband who will be deported to Yemen. As of now he was deported in May to yemen and I am still waiting for the I-130 Petition to get approved. When I check for status it says that its under initial review, but it has been already 8 months since then. The time for I-130 is usually 5 months from California. I called for the status and it still gives me the same information. What should I do next? Help is appreciated. Thank you. :(

Naha, why was he deported? That is usually a serious issue that can affect approval of your visa application. I would assume you've already sought legal counsel... Also, from my understanding although California SC is faster than some of the others, your beneficiary is from Yemen. As is mine. It's not abnormal for them to take longer to process their review. Not just because it's a "T" country, but also because the local partners/agencies they rely on to run background information don't have electricity most of the time these days. Yemen is going through a lot of turmoil so you shouldn't be surprised. But you can always try calling USCIS for an update. I've found that they are fairly helpful by phone.
