I'm currently sat here filling out my DS-230 part 1 and 2, my DS-156 and DS-157, and D-156k.

I have also sent off to the ACRO for my police records information.

I have my fiance in the US currently acquiring financial information for her and the co-sponsor so I can work on the i-134 affadavit of support.

I was under the impression that on the receipt of NOA2 I needed to send some of these forms to the embassy, then they will say that's fine, and then I file the 2001 to say i'm ready for interview.

Or..

Do I get all of this together, including the affadavit of support, book my medical and then I send all of these forms and the 2001 to state I am ready for interview?

Do I mail all of the above forms? I was under the impression that forms such as the affadavit of support are taken with you to interview, but I may have just created that idea in my head! :\

I have tried searching, but really just need to know if I'm on the right wave-length.

Hi! First, check out the pinned thread at the top, that'll help you for sure. Also, review this page on the London Embassy site that will tell you exactly what you need to do: http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

The police certificate and financial stuff should be taken to the interview, not sent to the embassy. Here's what you need to do: send DS-230-Part 1, Form DS-156 (2 copies), DS-157 (2 copies) and DS-156K to the embassy. Throw Part II of the DS-230 away, and don't send any supplemental stuff like photos, the police certificate or financial info, just send the forms. Then book the medical exam if you haven't already. They aren't going to send you a letter saying that it was fine or they received it or provide any confirmation, so call the Department of State to make sure it's been received probably two weeks after you send everything.

Once you have the police certificate, financial info and some basic relationship stuff (photos, etc.) and you're ready for the interview, send the DS-2001 to the embassy requesting an interview date. Then, they'll send you a letter confirming your interview date. You'll need to bring all the supplemental stuff to the interview.

Thanks for that, you're a star! Exactly the info I was after.

One final question, the DS156k says, "The following documents must be attached in order to apply for a non-immigrant Visa.. Birth Certificate, police records..etc"

Do I just ignore this in that initial mail out and have those supplements with me for interview? That was the bit that really threw me.

Thanks again.

Yes ignore what the form says. Read the whole thread at the top of the forum. Many questions answered there in detail. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/350185-london-2012-k1s-from-noa2-to-interview-thread/ if you have further questions, add to that pinned thread.

Awww no problem :) What I did, and what I think most people do on this forum, is ignore that wording and then just send the forms without the supplemental stuff. I haven't heard of any problems doing it this way.

It's confusing because the form says that wording, but then on the packet 3 letter, it says "do not send any documents to our office until you are specifically requested to do so." So, what I think happens is that the supplemental items referenced on the DS-156k are because all of that stuff is needed for the file/interview, but they want the actual forms in advance to save time on data entry. I think they also want to verify the supplemental stuff in person as well.
