MSNBC Not fair and Balanced

MSNBC cuts every speech made by a minority from RNC speech coverage

1036 MSNBC wants you to think the Republican Party hates minorities. So much so that the liberal news network cut minority speeches from it’s convention coverage.

When popular Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz, the GOP nominee for Senate, took the stage, MSNBC cut away from the Republican National Convention and the Hispanic Republican from Texas’ speech.

MSNBC stayed on commercial through former Democratic Rep. Artur Davis’ speech, as well. Davis, who recently became a Republican, is black.

Then, when Puerto Rican Governor Luis Fortuno’s wife Luce’ Vela Fortuño took the stage minutes later, MSNBC hosts Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews opted to talk over the First Lady’s speech.

And Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval? Noticeably missing from MSNBC, too.

Mia Love, a black candidate for Congress in Utah, was also ignored by MSNBC.

Will MSNBC conveniently manage not to show Governor Luis Fortuno’s speech tomorrow (Wednesday night) as well?

Former Secretary of State and prominent black conservative Condoleezza Rice is also slated to speak at tomorrow night’s convention.

What I noticed watching some of the convention on PBS is that minorities were missing in the audience. Folks at PBS must have done some trick with the visual making it appear as if the GOP convention was an all white event. My wife commented that the folks in the audience looked whiter than Berlin. What I also noticed, however, was that the GOP did attempt a bit of window dressing putting more diversity on the stage than they appear to have among their delegations.

Why does that surprise you? It's no secret that the majority of Republicans are white. Your statement is equal to someone watching an NBA game being surprised that most of the players are black.

So what's the complaint about then? That MSNBC wants to make the GOP appear to be an almost all white party?

I believe the complaint is stated in the first sentence of the op.

Me? I don't.

It appears that you are, at least to me it does. Why else would you attempt to detract from a story that points out a slight on minorities? I would think you would be at least a little perturbed about the story.

A slight on minorities? You mean like a major party holding a national convention and there being hardly any minorities present? That would indeed be a slight on minorities but it seems that the fine folk over at Red Alert haven't noticed. They instead focused on MSNBCs selection of what speeches to cover. And that then translates into me dissing minorities. Brilliant!

The fact that the majority of the Republican party is white, is not a slight on minorities. It would only be a slight on minorities if the Republican party excluded them, which they don't. You are once again stating the obvious to detract from the fact that minorities were slighted by MSNBC. I find it odd that you would choose to detract from this story. I don't know what your race is, but you obviously have minorities in your family. Why does it not bother you that MSNBC would skip over the minority speeches? Do you not believe the minority speeches should have been shown by MSNBC?
