Heading to Canada for the first time since POE. Anything I need to know?

I'm travelling back to Toronto tomorrow. I have my GC. Will I need to go through anything different when returning to the U.S. in two weeks? Will I still have the fill out the blue customs form when I return to the U.S. (at Pearson after checking my bags and before going to customs)? Do I need to tell the customs officer anything, or just hand over my passport and let him figure it out?

Also, I noticed tonight that the officer who dealt with me at my POE wrote "2013" on my stamp, and not "2014." I have a CR-1, so shouldn't the expiry be two years from POE, not one? I crossed in June.

You just need your passport and green card. And if the names are different on both (maiden and married), then bring your marriage certificate as well. And yup, still need to fill out the customs form. You would just be checking visitor to Canada instead of resident. And no need to tell the officers anything until they ask you questions (why you're here, blah blah blah).

And I can't be sure (as I'm at school and not near my passport), but that's probably just the one-year expiration on the stamp/visa (since it acts as a temporary green card for up to one year).

Pretty basic! Going into Canada, you can show them ur Cdn passport or if u want show them the greencard(I jst showed them my Cdn passport)! And remember ur no longer a resident of canada, ur a visitor!

When coming back into the USA, many just hand over the Greencard---they may or may not ask to see ur passport! Sometimes they did for me, many times was ok with the Greencard!! Still have to fill out a USA customs form!!

Yep the stamp endorsing ur I-551 in ur Cdn pasport was good for 1 year--but that no longer matters as your in possesion of ur Greencard--the expirary date for that is right on the card itself for that!! 90 DAYS before it expires, you can start the next process of the journey!!

Awesome, the stamp expiration date makes a lot more sense. Forgot about that part, haha.

Just be honest (as always!) with the officers and it'll be a breeze.

I went back to Canada for the first time in June and had no problems. The Canadian customs officer was definitely nicer than the US one The American one barely said anything to me and was just looking at my green card for awhile and their computer, whereas the Canadian one was smiling (that's right, smiling!) and much more laid-back

Ur still a Canadian citizen, so entering Canada is not a problem at all!
