We have our IR-1 interview in London next Tuesday.

My wife has completed the I-864 but not signed it. I am right in thinking she signs this in front of the Consular official at the interview am I.

There was an old version of the I-864 which needed to be notorized. And there's a new version, which is easier, and you don't need it notorized, you just to sign it. The newer version also only requires the tax return from the most recent year, wheras the old one requires tax returns from the last three years.

Here's a link to the newest one

As far as I#'m aware, this one should be signed already. I certainly hope it's not to be signed at the interview because my dad is a joint sponsor and won't be able to fly over from the USA for the interview to sign it in front of someone!

The DS-230 part II though, that's the bit that gets signed at the interview. I think.

I'm not 100% certain about this though...but that's the way I understand it.

2006

July 30th - sent off I-130s

August 7th - I-130s filed with USCIS and we receive our notification postcard a few days later

Nov 5th - sent in the DS-2001 part 1 and the DS 2001

Nov 6th - received our packet 3 stuff, which I took as I-130 approvals

Nov 13th - received packet 4 - interview scheduled for Dec 14th

Nov 20th - had medicals

Nov 24-ish - received our actual I-130 approvals, I have no idea why they took so long to arrive!

Dec 14th - interviews - approved!

Dec 16th - visas delivered

2007

Jan 13th - leaving party :( I will miss so many people!

Jan 19th - our travel date

Feb 20th - our baby's due date

Unfortunately the Embassy sent the old form which needs to be notarized. As my wife is in the UK, we both live here, I assumed she would sign it at the Embassy on the day as there is a notary there. But I wondered if this assumption is correct.

L, even the old form does not need to be notarized (see confirmation from Folinskyinla posted at BE).

Or, you can download and complete a new version, and not require a notarized signature.

Or, she can sign it at the interview in front of the officer anyway.

Best wishes for a great interview. :)
