it's really weird after all my long message to my lawyer she just replied me this "Please don't call the NVC, it just slows things down." it means she dont want us to bug the NVC to have our NVC case # as well as IIN..ppffff......

she keeps us telling NOT TO CALL COZ IT MAKE THINGS SLOW, she even told us not to call the USCIS, but 2 days after my hubby called, we we're approved... so ridiculous! I kept telling her what i learned in VJ site and as well as in here... but she use to tell me the opposite... hhmmmm.... which one should i believe? the poeple's experiences and advice or hers? :(

She don't want you to realize you wasted your money hiring her to do what you could have done for just the filing fee's and postage. Feel free to call NVC when you want for updates, they're very nice operator's there.

What slows you down is having to send all of your documents to the lawyer and then having them send them to NVC, instead of sending them directly there yourself. Calling NVC isn't going to slow anything down.

A lawyer would never call or email an agency to obtain information. They have to write it down and send it via snail mail because those correspondence is "money" for them. Not calling the NVC or any other agencies was really a "no-no" in the past because each clerk processing your claim has to stop work and answer your phone call. This is the "modern day" now, where "Call Center-Agents" answer the phones and the clerks/adjdudicators are never bothered by the phone calls. NVC now has an army of people whose job is to do "data-entry" of work or tasks accomplished for that day, and the call center clerks answer the phone calls. This leaves the "real visa workers" to finish their jobs. Where it takes a lot of time to process is when documents submitted are incomplete or missing, or "you happen to have a slow poke for a visa clerk"..

My biggest mistake was to hire a divorce lawyer and after $30K, it as finally complete after two years. If my wife only agreed to an amicable divorce, all it would have cost me was $600.00...My lawyer prolonged the case by submitting so many useless correspondence, which had to be replied to within 30 days, sometimes 60 days. California is a no-fault divorce and if everyone was agreeable, you could simply divorce yourselves.

But in defense of the law profession, there are really circumstances where only a lawyer could help you. There are a lot of "tight spots" out there that could be resolved by lawyers only..

i told my husband about that earlier but both of us dont know how to file it alone during the NOA1 so we hire her.. and now that this VJ site helps me to understand... i regret of having her and wants her fired but we already paid her full and we dont want to waste our money so we want her to work for everything... its just weird coz i want her to explain it to me about the next process during the NVC but all she replied to me is just dont call the NVC, coz it will take everything slow.. which i dont believe...

thank you so much for all your replies... now i want my husband to call the NVC so we can have the case # and IIN asap...

you can pay tuition, you can pay fees, you can pay by the hour .

In the end, your time is worth something.

How do you feel ?

You do NOT speed up the process by calling NVC everyday. That said, you also do NOT slow down the process by calling NVC everyday.

NVC has a process and a time frame. It remains the same whether you call or not.

Correct. When you hire somebody to provide a professional service, it's usually best to either let them provide the service THEIR way or fire them and do it your way, or hire somebody else to do it the way you want it done. Trying to get them to do it your way or arguing with them, seldom helps. The lawyer probably considers the petitioner to be the client though and will likely be more receptive to calls and requests from the "client".

Did you ask her "How" it would slow things down? I have always been against hiring lawyers for these types of cases. Its not that hard to fill out the paperwork. Everyting is available online. Still people choose to waste money on them.

With all of the replys that you have received, I want to say that they have provided you the with the correct information. You can call and call and nothing will change the fact that they have their process along with their time tables that THEY alone must follow!!

P.S. I would not deem it necessary to still have that lawyer!! Then again that is just my opinion!!

If i were in your shoes, i would take enough time to make a long list of all the questions that come to my mind regarding the visa process from A to Z, and as you paid her fully, you have the right to ask her all those questions, then compare her answers with what the VJ members say, the members who had success doing it themselves.

Good luck!
