COPIES FOR INTERVIEW

HI all,

Okay, I have most of my interview package completed. I have three notebooks: FInancial Support, Proof of Relationship, and Required Documents (DS230 etc.)

Now...It seems I have seen others write that they make copies of all this stuff. Do I really need a copy? If I take these books to the interview and the interviewer wants to see something, do I have to have my own copy? Is the interviewer going to keep my docs, like skype logs, bank statements, etc.???

Just when I thought I wasn't confused any more.

thanks

You do not want to hand over any originals unless specifically asked to or required. They may ask to see the originals, but will accept a copy for the records. It is a good idea to have a copy of the package for safekeeping. A lot of this information will be used again. If you have the capability to scan, then you make electronic files.

It sounds like you are being quite thorough.good.gif

Good luck.

Thanks, that clears it up. There is nothing in my books that's an original...everything is printed out from a computer or copied from an original. So if they want something I can just give it to them. I will be able to recreate anything in the package.

And a special thanks to my buddy Phil on this one.... :)

I made a copy of everything just in case. Why not?

For official documents (birth certificate, marriage or divorce certificates, etc) you need the original AND a copy. They will keep the copy and give back the original. Make SURE you get the originals back before you leave. It is no longer necessary to translate the documents if they are in Russian or Ukrainian BUT I strongly suggest you do at some point as you will need them for the continuing process in the USA.

I never used my copies and all that stuff has ended up in the re-cycle bin, but I made copies of everything. I have now kept only the notifications and approvals for my files.
