Ok...Papa had his medical exam on yesterday...He was asked if he had ever smoked cannibus... He told them that he has smoked in the past and that he had recently stopped (months). He is sure that he will pass the drug test as he hasnt been smoking. However, I am concerned with the question... do you think that this will hinder him from getting his visa? Please someone...this is driving me crazy...to come so far just to lose out. Please help me!!!! :crying:

I've known people from the JA VJ crew that admitted during the medical, and tested clean but where denied. I've heard of people admitting to it, tested cleaned and getting through. At this point, there is nothing to do but wait for the results. This could get tricky at the interview. They may ask him if he's smoked before and if he tells them no....but just told the medical yes....this is also where it may hinder your application. Keep your fingers crossed. And good luck!!!

If he is denied based on this, does that mean that he will not have another chance? Is there something that can be done?

There is an automatic one year ban if it is detected in his system. It is expected that if he stopped smoking weed for more than 6 months it should not show in his system. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your help. It really eases my anxiety. I am sure that his system is clean. I was just worried that his answering yes would hinder him from being issued a visa.

Thanks again...Miracles, Love and Blessings.

He was being honest in saying that he has used in the past but no longer indulges. He says that his system is clean. But I was worried that by answering yes to this question would stop him from being issued a visa. Thank you so much for your answer...it really helped to ease my anxiety. Miracles, Love and Blessings to you and yours.

Admitting to having smoked, even with a clean test, can possibly trigger a ban - it is a one year ban, so he would have to wait one year, retake the medical, and reinterview for his visa - Definitely be honest and prepare yourself for all possibilities.

If this is the case, would we have to start the visa process all over again? I know he isnt using now and he will pass the medical. What would happen? How will we know when he is eligible for another medical exam and interview?

You won't know anything till after his interview - If he has the ban, then you will know the specifics of when the ban is up and he can re-do the medical and re-interview - There are others who have gone through this - Just be grateful they changed the law - the ban used to be 3 years, not 1.

Well, I will leave it in the hands of the LORD. I am most grateful that it is only a year. It could have been far worse. I will just pray that there isnt a ban placed on him at all. But if there is then we will have to work through it. Thank you so very much for you help. I really would like to hear from some of the ones who have been through this. Still there is hope and at least he didnt lie. Thank you again...Miracles, Love and Blessings to you and yours.

Stopping months ago is very different than years ago. I'd be making a Plan B if I were you.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

On 2009 my fiance, apply for a visitor visa, and he was denied because of the same question. He said the last time he smoke was the yr before, he even tested negative to test, n still he didn't got any chance, what they said is that anything that has to do with drugs is a no.. no for them. Now we filled the I-129f and still scared about the same question on interview, even though he don't smoke anymore for yrs. It's a gamble !!! Anyways good luck.
