Hello everyone!

I have few questions that I want to ask. (I am under my mothers name I believe F2)

My mother got married to a U.S citizen in May. and My mother and I applied for our Green Card around Mid June but they sent a letter saying that it's on the process on June 26th.

My mother and I then got a letter telling us to come in for a Biometric appointment around mid July.

I am 18 right now and I really want to work so I could start paying for stuff and not ask my parents because I feel like I should be doing the right thing.

I am also working on my license right now I just took my permit test today.

So here are my questions:

1. I've heard it takes about 2 weeks after Biometric appointment to get your Work Permit, but I haven't yet. How long will this usually take? (I live in Michigan)

2. What is the next step after the Biometric appointment? am I close completing the Green card process?

3. I took my Learner's permit test today, I passed (was happy) but then got shut down because the office worker there told me that Homeland Security needs to approve or something, How long will this take?/is this a bad thing?

It'd be very nice if you guys could answer this!

Thank you very much!

1. It takes about 3 months from filing. When you have your bio matters not.

2. Well, it's hard to know because you haven't told us what forms you filed, how you got to the US, etc.

3. It's normal. You do not have a status right now so they cannot issue you a DL. When you get your EAD or GC you can get a license.

EAD is taking anywhere from 60 - 75 days from what i have seen on the forums, it varies a little!

AFter the Bio appointment you can expect a nice little wait if your case gets transferred to the California Service Center or you may be called for an interview. As Harpa Timsah said, we need a bit more info to give you cleared info! Fill in your timeline etc please :)

You need proof of legal residence to get a drivers license in most states. I
