I need to fill out for my step son. Do I need all the paper work that I had to do with my wife. He came ona K-2.

Does he also have to go the the US General surgen to get a medical?

If the child is under age 14, the child doesn't need the G-325A or the biometrics fee and the I-485 fee is less than the adult's fee.

Since you both had medical exams for the visa you only need to get the vaccination supplemental form I-693A completed by a Civil Surgeon not a complete exam if it's been less than a year since you have the visa medical exam.

Ks: If you were admitted to the United States as a fiance(e) (K-1), child of a fiance(e) (K-2), Spouse of a U.S. citizen (K-3), or child of K-3 (K-4), and received a medical examination prior to admission, then you do not require another medical examination as long as your application for adjustment of status (Form I-485) is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. You will, however, be required to submit a vaccination supplement with our adjustment of status application. The vaccination supplement must be completed by a designated civil surgeon.

Good day!

You step-son will be under the petition K-2 if your wife is K-1. The petition is the same. You should file the AOS at the same time, for your wife and step-son as they would go through the same process. If your step-son underwent a medical checkup from an accredited clinic of the Us Embassy from the country he came from, that checkup summary report is still valid for a year.

I am here on a K-1 and my son K-2. All papers are filed together especially he is a minor and he is my responsibility. We always have the same dates for appointments , etc.

What else you need to do... get your wife and step-son a state ID, SSN, LIbrary card and yes immunization follow-ups..

Good luck!

Yodrak and/or Mdyoung:

Just a question related to this .... I applied for EAD (approved already) but i didnt apply EAD for my K2 son. Reason why is to save money, can we just wait for my K2 son greencard instead and apply for his SSN? hopefully we could have our greencard if no problems at all before filing for income tax.

Any response will be appreciated, thanks!

yogib,

Income tax is what an ITIN is for, when one does not qualify for a SSN.
